Let's face it. Those of us that own 2002 C32's now own five year old cars. Most cars from other marques, at age 5, are headed for the scrap heap or someone's front lawn in the "inner-city". Most of us with these cars are not even the first owners. Can we truely know what these cars went through the first 3 or 4 years of driving? No! I think that it is a bit unfair to blame the issues with your car wholly on the shoulders of MB. Sure MB has had issues with these very high performance cars. It sure can't help that most C32 owners here had dinked with their cars in some form or fashion, adding extra HP to the beasts. The fact that MB even offers an extended warranty on a 5 year old high performance car is amazing to me. Congratulations!

Most of the blame for your car's condition just might belong to the previous owner and time itself (not milage). Just my $.02. Go enjoy the car.

incorrect, it all depends on the dealership, some dealers don't care, some do...

After talking to an MB officionado at a recent AMG meet, the following seems to true:
There's a difference between what 'warranty law' says and what some dealerships say. According to the legal system, you should be free to mod whatever you want. It's only when something goes wrong that there's a problem - i.e., if MB (or whatever company) can prove (within reason) that the mod contributed to the failure, then your warranty is null and void. As we all know, eventually something goes wrong on your car and todays vehicle systems are all interlinked - making it relatively easy to blame the mod.
As 1FAST put it, some dealerships choose to be a$$holes about it and some don't care (probably those dealerships who know what the customer's rights are).

I understand your standpoint and to be honest no matter what a good built vehile will take nasty abuse. I had a 96 Lexus ES300 and to be honest I barely spent a dime on it and it had like 89-122k in my ownership. Quality in an old car is quality some makes choose to make quality vehicles some don't. If you want repeat customers 1. keep them happy and not in the shop for things. I baby my car and these things just pop up. I like the flair MB represents but honestly I am starting to fall for Quality a little more now. Which is something makes like Lexus(toyota) cares about and win numerous adwards for.

Thumbs up

OK,

Here is 3rd warrantty work done.

Check engine light again.......remedy wrong relay that causes air pump to fail---past recall(incorrect relay was installed that caused this to fail or burn out)

1. replaced 147251 electric air pump
2. replaced 1 000 140 42 85 air pump
3. replaced 1 002 542 62 19 05 relay
4. 147253 relay modules-secondary air injection system
The dealership I had it at sent to dealership who installed wrong relay and returned to me today Jan 25 2007.

I didn't have to pay anything since it was a recall item that was done wrong and St.Charles MB loaned me a loaner all this time and found the issue and charged nothing. Maybe there is some hope after all.

I'm dropping mine off this afternoon for -

- Infamous "jerk" @1500rpm. Insisting on new TQ converter this time since they have cleared and updated adaptation and all software many times which is just a temp. fix.

- Broken cup holder (TSB has part # for new/better cupholder)

- windshield fogging in center (TSB on this actually)

- mirrors move every time I get in and out of the car (not set to parking mode) (TSB)

- interior squeking/creaking noise kit (TSB)

- rough idle/hesitation/DTCs set (TSB)

- front axle thumping noise on rough roads (TSB)

- drivers and passenger windows - auto up/down not working

- bottom of drivers seat not heating

- drivers seat controls reversed. push forward and it goes back

- dead battery - fan in back of stereo/nav always running

- wind noise, rattling coming from drivers vent over 75mph

I won't see my car for a week or more I'm sure. Local dealer here is CRAP!

Wow! Just dropped off the car and gave them a 30 minute briefing on all the crap thats wrong with the car. Thought I was doing them a favor by bringing in notes and service bulletins - WRONG! They get real pissy when you hand them bulletins! They didn't want me to tell them what was wrong with the car. They wanted me to play dumb, pop bubble gum, twirl my hair, say "like" 100 times and tell them "well it sounded like (attempt to make really annoying sound)....".
Then as I'm giving them all my warranty paperwork the lady tries telling me to be prepared to grab my ankles and start shootin benjamins out my *** to cover all the diagnostic fees. I had checked with my warranty guy prior to dropping the car off to make sure this was covered, and it was. This chick wants to argue with me over that too!?
Usually I carry Midol around with me for just such an emergency but unfortunately I gave the last of it away. That time of the month I guess....
The crap service in Gulfport, MS never ceases to amaze me.

Fix everything while you can......cause when its time to sell at least you have alot of things repaired.

I had that issue with the drivers seat controls work in reverse but very few times

I had the outside mirrors fixed and at times when reversing they(meaning right side) comes up so I stop and put it in park then reverse again. Its done that to me a few times already and recently.

These are things I noticed wonder what items I don't

I love my car but hate the issues and coming from Lexus I expected something a little similar. I also have a C230k and its flawless so far and it has like 75k miles on it. I guess the issues come with the AMG models more then the standard class.

I know this was a massively long time ago but I was wondering if you remember what the fix was for this issue?
