Mirror Theft / Vandalism
While visiting my in-laws last weekend, I parked my C32 in their driveway, in a reasonably nice part of Houston suburbia. Walked out of their house early Sunday morning to find that somebody had stolen both outside mirror covers!
Needless to say, they also did a lot of damage to the mirror mechanisms themselves, and scratched the paint on the both doors.
The dealer said we are looking at well over $1000 to fix both mirrors, not counting any body work or repaint.
I guess I should be happy they didn't take my wheels, or vandalized the car even more.
Why would they steal the mirror covers, of all things? Because of the turn signals? Do those covers work on anything other than a C-class?

I got my driver's side mirror stolen at the galleria parking lot about a year ago. It took me 2 months to find one (ebay). The stealership wanted 600 bucks to fix it and I didn't want to turn it into the insurance mafia neither. I had to buy the whole assembly (mirror, frame, cover and blinker) and I only used the mirror. If you want the rest parts PM me.

benz mirrors are a hot item. Many people the blinkers out and integrate them in various other cars. The entire mirror mechanism was stolen earlier until mercedes introduced security torx 5 point screws in the mirrors as of 04 or 05.
