Goodrich g-Force KDW2 vs. GoodYear F1-GS-DS?

My choice for my C55 has narrowed down to these 2 although the PS2's are also in the running. The Conti SportContact 2's are going back to the dealer and my stock PZero's are wearing out.

A set of 4 (235/35/19 + 265/30/19) runs about $800 on TireRack and Tires-Easy.com

Which do you prefer and why?

I can tell you from my track experince, that the GoodYear will win. Also, the Goodyear is better in the rain? Who would have thought. I am biased tomorrows the Goodyears as I have had MANY BFG's scalope on the outside edges on numerous cars, when pushed to the limits

Bottom line, buy the GS-D3's and you will not be disapointed.

And NO, I do not work for ANY tire company, just a lot of track time in a lot of cars.

See yeah

I've got the KDW2's on my C230 now.

I used to race an Acura Integra (SCCA), and enjoy a spirited drive in the Benz, although it hasn't seen the track yet.

My impressions are that the BFG's are much more precise than the Michelin Pilot Sports that came on the car. The car can be placed within a millimeter of where you want it. The sidewall is firm, and they slip in a very controlled manner at the limit. In short, they would make very nice track tires.

The downside? They sound like 4x4 off-road tires at any speed - even when new. If you are looking for tires to take to the track, I believe that the BFG's are a good choice. If you are looking for tires to drive on the street everyday, I'd look elsewhere.

I've never tried the GS-D3's, so I can't give any feedback there, but I will be trying a set when these KDW's wear out (if they ever do . . . the tread life seems to be excellent - which is a curse when combined with the noise of the tire and the amount of highway driving that I do).

I have the F1's and they grip better than any other tire I have ever had. I do have 255's on the rear and it's hard to get them to spin from a roll. They also grip like a **** in the rain. They look awesome too!

I had KDW's on my S2000. They handled great (not as good as the original B-Stone S02's), but they wore out very quickly. I think I made it about 8,000 miles on them, and I'm no drift racer.

If you're sold on the BFG's, check Costco too - I got my set for less than $500 installed. Had to order them, but it only took a few days.

I think the Goodyear is a more "sophisticated" tire that would give you better all-around performance (wet/dry/track/street).

What was the deal with your ContiSport 2s? My car came with them and I absolutely HATED them. On track, they were sloppy and offered very little grip. However, I stuck with them, and now that the tread is heavily worn, they actually perform a lot better.
