Looking for a radar detector for my new C32.
Any suggestions on which one to get?
Please post pictures if you have one hardwired.

Thanks,

peter

The Valentine 1 is hands down the best radar detector that is currently on the market.

We own three, and when my C32 arrives on November 10th I will be getting mine hardwired into it aswell.

Agree, got to have a detector in a C32

Don't drive your C32 without one. If it saves one ticket, you could have paid for any detector you wanted. The unit I have allows turning off and on different bands, thus I get very little falsing. Therefore I always leave it on and it is always ready to rock and roll.

Valentines are indeed awesome. However, they are not built ins. Some people, in high theft areas, prefer the safety of the true built in.

I currently use the K40. Although this unit totally sucks, it works. I believe any of the popular units will save your butt!

I attempted to upgrade to the Passport SR1 when I got the C32, but the remote sensor doesn't fit behind the grill!! In discussion with Escort, they told me that a new unit will be out any week now. It has the seperate laser detection like the Passport SRX (way too costly). The SR1 is a combo remote, this is why it doesn't fit. The new unit WILL fit. It should be darn close to Valentine performance. The readout is awesome. Only about a half inch tall and it fits perfectly in front of the speedometer on the ledge.

Thanks for the advice guys.
I'll order the V1 & the concealed display today.
I can take this to a auto stereo shop to have them install for me right ? Unless there's a site that has step by step instructions on how to hardwire this thing into the C32.

I have a Passport 8500 and it has saved me a few times except for once (shot by a laser gun). There is no way to avoid a laser gun unless you have those laser jammer. When your radar got hit by laser, you're already dead!

C32
Bel975R

I have the Bel975R installed in my C32. However don't try to install it yourself unless you have very good knowledge of the cars wiring. The dealer took care of it and they did a great job.
The detector unit does not fit behind the grill, but is does fit in the bumper, next to the fog light. The mechanic even cut out a little piece of plastic to clear the view for the detector.
It works very well. Over here most cops setup the radar to 'shoot' as you go past them (taking a pict of the rear license plate) . This makes detection much much harder since your detector has to rely on reflecting radar beams.
Still I get warning from 200-300 m when the shoot from the back and even 500 m when they are radaring from the front.

radar detector

Valentine1 is the best I have ever used. Gives you all of the multiple bogeys in all 4 directions at once so you can tell what kind of radar from what direction. It has been very reliable for me. It also comes with plug in and hard wire kit. Easy to permanently wire in also. Check out: www.valentine1.com

I have a k40 laser defuser in my lower front grill and then use the V1 and they work great. Get hit by laser quite a bit and never really a second look. So, I guess its working.

Check out www.k40.com for details on the laser defuserplus. Mounts in the black wire in the lower grill and I mounted my Led in the blank switch above the command unit. Just a little round LED lite. also emits tone and lites up when hit.

C32TOM,
Did you installed the V1 yourself ? or you took it in ?
If you took it in, how much was installation ?

Thanks,

Peter

pc527,

I did not install it by myself, my dealer did it for me. I wasn't charged for the installation, but I left the service guy a tip.
