Warming up

These engines don't need much time to warm up. I will usually wait till the RPMs drop to 600-700 after the start and then roll. I think the key here is to go easy until the engine reaches running temp (usually about 4-5 minutes).

I'm 10-20sec. and then extremely light driving until full warm up. And by that I mean not just the operating temperature needle (which is just coolant) but engine oil. With a capacity of 9qts., I estimate that the operating temperature of the oil is reached 5-7miles of driving after reaching full coolant temperature.
Audi drivers can tell you how much longer it take for the oil to reach operating temperature relative to the coolant. They have both gauges.

Depends much on the ambient temperature too. When it goes to -20C here (thanks god we did not get many days like that this winter), I drive gently like I have a container with glycerin in my trunk.

Yep... start the car, wait till the idle RPM drops to normal (600-700), drive it easy for 5-6 miles.
If your office is 5-6 miles away from home, you'd better take a detour every day.... LOL.
