Due too my extra thick rear swaybar I found another failure point. My rear swaybar endlink seperated by the bushing pulling out of the retainer.

Here is the bushing stock:

Here is the bushing with a washer attached to prevent the bushing from pulling out of the retainer:

Time we did that same thing at Pahrump on SMG's car. The rear bar was to thick and just yanked on that bushing one to many times. Its a simple fix but we almost lost a brake line with the dislocated bar rubbing up against the rear line for the last 2 sessions!
Pahrump has a turn where you totally unload the car, catch a slight bit of air and then come back down under full load. That turn likely just yanked that bushing right out of the connection arm.
We also had the front bushings fail twice with the H&R kit. I dont think many people drive these cars hard with upgraded bars as these failures should have been known a while back.

Same thing happened to me at the track, I also have H&R bars matched with H&R springs. I also broke one sway bar end link once.

Your post is dead accurate, because I have suffered the same failure.
Those links, along with the ones at the front, seem to be just another consumable part.

i dont want to open a new thread and just get blown away. what is ussually the first thing that fail on the rear suspension. because i got a minor accident on an ice going like 30mph and i hit the curve the right rear wheel twisted and the suspension. so i brought it to fletcher jones mercedes in las vegas nv. the only MB dealer that i know of. well long story short after 4 months i started hearing this thump noise on the back of the car when pulling out on the drive way and on the stop signs. it sounds like a soda can rolling in the trunk and you would hear it when you step on the break and turning it happens a lot. by the way i brought to the dealer got a good treatment got a loaner for free they said they check the car for any loose bolts or anything but they said they found none and they try to duplicate and even test drove the car with me to hear the noise but the noise didnt happen. oh wait i forgot 3 days before i brought the car to the dealership i have an autotech class and they got a lift and i told my teacher about it an ASE certified so he asked me to bring the car in and we put it on the lift as i kind of know the geometry of the suspension i checked some of the connections on the driver side the lower control arm the big one conecting to the subframe the screw and bolt is loose its about to fall of its only attached by like 1/4 of an inch i was scared to drive the car so me and my teacher tighten the bolt up like so tight. and my teacher burn them they suppose to be a highly certified mechanic but i didnt do it. and so yeah i brought it there nothing happen they took the car two days later gave it back said nothing is wrong and they double check everything. but untill this point i still hear the thump it bothers me a lot coz i do a lot of driving and im 16 i dont want to die yet
thanks
thanks

Try to get "grade 8" washers. You might not think about that washer breaking. but i have seen it happen before. The stronger washer souldn't cost more than a few dollars.

I just have the fronts right now. Its funny this came up as I was under the car the other day, and noticed the crappy rear links. I was thinking of getting a hold of one and seeing what I can do. I will look into it.

I took the liberty of "borrowing" your washer modification idea.
While under there, new OE links were installed: 203 320 07 89 (LH) & 230 320 08 89 (RH). >$50 for the pair.
Thanks for the tip.

I disconnected my rear swaybar for the track. I know of many folks that don't use it because it lifts the inside rear tire in turning, causing it to lose traction. You might want to beef up the front, and remove the swaybar on the rear.

Bumping an old thread
I'm about to install H&R sway bars on my '02 C320 sedan. Doing my research as I'd like to do things once and avoid having to undo/redo stuff requiring me to be under the car.
I came across this thread but unfortunately, the important pics are not visible.
Anyone have pics or detailed instructions as to washer size, how exactly to install, etc?
On a different note, I'm a little confused as to whether the 12mm sway bar links for the front are shorter???
I've already STFF (searched the fugging forums) till my eyes are crossed but info is so scattered & often conflicting....
[EDIT: Just noticed this is not the main W203 forum but any input still appreciated]

Correct!
Unless you upgraded to a slipdifferential.
