I pulled up to a black M3 on the highway earlier today.... initially traffic was not too heavy, but there were too many cars to really get a good run in....

Initially I think the guy in the M3 wasn't taking me seriously.... I kept trying him, and he wouldn't do much...

I kind of gave up and was just crusing along... then a huge open stretch opens up before us.... I look in my rearview mirror and see him gun it.....

I'm going about 70 MPH, and I hammer it so I don't give him a huge running start on me, but it was too late..... he had a lot of momentum on me......

he came up very strong and ended up passing me by about one car legnth, at that point we're going about 100MPH...... that one car legnth is all he got and I started to pull on him..... I passed him and kept on the throttle.... the last time I looked I had just past the 140MPH mark.... I kept going for little while longer and let off..... at just over 150MPH.... I probably had about 2-3 car legnths on him...

after the race I got next to him to give him a thumbs up, and he kind make a smurk and just nodded.... he didn't look very thrilled at all...

this is my 3rd or 4th highway race vs the M3..... each time as soon as we hit 100MPH, I always get a nice steady pull.... and you can't blame this on the driver.... he had the jump!

i duno why but i never imagined a c32 is capable of beating a m3, i always thought bimmers are quicker, guess im wrong after ur story

Tango..... they might get quicker times in the 1/4 mile or 0-60.... I've seen many tests that go both ways, but on the highway, the C32 will win for sure..... I'm 4 for 4 in highway races vs the M3....

as for the M5...... the M5 is definately faster than the M3... no question about it..... I've raced two M5's on the highway..... one was dead even... and other time they M5 started pulling away from me at around 110 MPH.....

I need an ecu and pulley kit so I can take the the M5's for sure....

Good race! On the highway, the M5 is faster than the C32, but C32s are definely faster than an M3s. I beat my friend's M3 from 30 to 120mph. As for quarter mile runs, I don't know until I am paired up with a stock SMG. If you beat the stick M3s, everyone thinks it's driver error. I hate excuses!

I'm sorry guys, I don't believe it, how do you know that the guy was even trying as hard as you, not likely because driving not only depends on the car but most importantly the driver, who is more aggressive and who is more likely to push their car more...so I suggest you don't make any quick assumptions.....

and the other 3 races I had with M3's also, they were just putzing around also....

Hey AV2, what color of M3 were you running against? I noticed that you are located in Seattle. I happen to know a friend running E46 M3 in Phoenix Gold, a rare color can't be missed....

The M3 is faster than the M5 in 0-60, marginally. 0-124, that's a different story due to the M5s higher torque.

M3 is highly overrated. urban stories about its abilities are blown up and spread around by s uckers like you reading too much C& D magazine and having no clue or personal expirience in racing one.

M3 has good handling though, no question about that. Problem with the M3 is it's lack of torque. A C32 has what... 70lb-ft more torque than the M3. Of course the C32 will smoke it @ highway speeds. But then we'd have to take into consideration the C32s Auto Gearbox and gear ratios, so perhaps that's why the races between C32s and M3s have been close. But of all real life races I've heard, the C32 always won (in a straight line ofcourse).

No doubt C32 can beat M3 on regular street. Since most of us drive 99% on the street one could argue that the C32 is the faster of the 2.
On the track the C32 will have to move aside for an M3 when both are equally good drivers.
C32 tuners have come up with packages ranging up to 430 HP. Probably even more HP tuning kits will be comming out soon.
M3 engine is at it's limit it seems (in some cases over the limit ...)

My Xmas wish ... another 100 HP or so for my C32 ...

actually, if you think about it. the C32 is supercharge, and the M3 is NA. I heard Adam Corolla's M3 got RMS Supercharged and that thing pulls over 500 hp easy. So, you guys shouldn't get too cacky. Anyway, AMG all the way!!!!

Even if it does make 500hp it sure as hell doesn't make 500hp "easy" that car is being raped to produce 333 ..ridiculous doing 500hp. You say 500 like it has even more room to increase performance

yeah, even BMW M Gmbh admit that the current 3.2 liter M engine is at the peak of the hps which it can produce. If you think about it the last generation 3.2 liter already produces 321 hps (euro ver). how can the new one only produce 12 more hps. I'm guessing that the next M3 will get either a v8 or a force induction i-6.

ummm...I say it cause it does. I know the people at RMS cause I also have a BMW, and they are gonna do even more stuff to his car. And I didn't mean the path to getting to 500+ hp was easy, I meant it's easy to say without debate that it makes well over 500 hp.

It's okay buddy, you're car is still the ****. It's sounds to me you're fairly insecure about what YOUR car can do. Anyway, I heard the new M3 is gonna come with a V8. Dude, have you guys heard of the new M5 though!!! freakin 100hp per liter in a 5.5 V10!!! I heard it should match the performance of a freakin' viper and it has a better power to weight ratio than the viper. That's crazy, maybe I should've waited for that instead of my SL55....................nah!!!! but that car is gonna be badass though.

You're right, but it's not a "bolt-on" mod. The engine has to undergo serious modification, from the pistons to the blocks, etc..The previous 3.2L on the other hand, you can basically stick a supercharger on it and be fine.

BTW dude!, the new M5 V-10 is based off the I-6. It will act much like the freakin current M3 engine dude!
