Question

Apoligize for my ignorance, but what are the clear side markers?

Also, which is the spoiler that is part of the trunk? looks like the trunk comes out a bit a looks like a spoiler, not the stock trunk lid. for a c32 amg.

Thanks!

Also,

I just got my 02 c32 amg a couple months ago. What mods should I start with? and please explain what are they for, since I'm not too familiar with c32's.

Thanks again.

Please use more descriptive thread titles.

Welcome to the forums.

Clear or blacked out side-markers is when we remove the hideous yellow/orange side-marker (front-side turn signals that are near the front wheel-well) and replace them with nothing (the full strip just continues), or blacked out/clear side-markers. Looks much better. (note the hideous orange rectangle in my sig - horrible)

Your first mods should be to replace/repair the sub-standard bits of this car with solutions either suggested on this forum or with stock parts/procedures; depending on mileage:
  • Have a glycol test done on the transmission fluid - take action depending on the result
  • Replace Valeo Radiator
  • Replace your inter cooler pump
  • Probably minor suspension components - sway links, etc...

Then get a sprint-booster and see if that doesn't bring out the real character of this car. Do a search on these forums, it doesn't add power, it just bring that power out more linearly (ever feel like your chasing the RPMs with your foot?) - couple hundred bucks or less

Once you have the car working well, then do things like chip/pulley (from $1000+ chip changes/specializes the cars behavior for more power, also $3000-$5000 pulley physically drives the s/c more times per revolution of the crank than stock, leading to more boost), suspension ($1500+ coilovers are adjustable for ride and height, $300-$500+ springs, shocks are not but can be just as good if combined properly), LSD or limited slip diff ($1000 or so currently we have an open-diff - one wheel doing almost all of the work and inefficiently with the other...lsd gives more even power to both rear-wheels), rims/tires - countless threads on the subject here. Headers seem moderately controversial; in stock applications it seems to add some power, in pulley applications seems like it's loosing slightly - someone chime in there - I don't think this has been resolved or was that just one person's random anomaly.

Use the Search Function for this forum. You will find much better and more authoritative discussions on all of these subjects and more - the hot ones recently have been the porting/polishing and inter-cooler reservoir fabbing discussions. Huge amount of knowledge on these boards - has saved me thousands of dollars and furthered the cause of motor-sports.

for the mods part we need to know how much $$$ do u have to spend on the car so we can direct u the right way, there are a lot of ppl on the form that have very nice car's. just take a look around for pic thirds on top of every page for example the C32/C55 PAGE says on the top
