Recommended service adviser at WI Simonson (IC pump)?

I need to get my IC pump replaced - on a CPO C32 I just bought (!). The dealer who sold it to me (Long Beach MB) says they "can't replicate" and that it "checks out ok". But the car shows IAT over 200 every drive, and it is clearly losing power after any extended drive.

I'm planning on taking it to WI Simonson in Santa Monica... and I was hoping someone could recommend a SA there familiar with the IC pump problem.

Try Derrick Franklin.

I just had the intercooler pump replaced by the techs under him. Make sure you mention "intermittent trememdous loss of power", and they will get it done. Derrick is one of the most senior CPO for Simonson, and the Master Tech that works under him is very knowledgeable about current tuning trends in our vehicles. But I will warn you Derrick is a no-nonsense no BS kind a guy, if him and his crew can't replicate it, it might just be in you head.

Funny thing is that I bough my car from Long Beach also, but never once did I go there for service, my service have always been done at Simonson.

Post and update about you experience after Simonson.

What a night and day experience vs my first attempt to get this fixed. Dropped the car off with Derrick at 8:30, explained the problem, had a new IC pump installed under warranty by the afternoon. Totally painless, and a great experience. Now I'm just crossing my fingers that it fixes the problem (99% sure that it will)...

Thanks for the recommendation - it was right on.

Glad it worked out for you.

Just curious, when you took your car in, were you given a loaner or did you have to provide your own transportation (rental, have a friend or family drive you)?

I work very close to them, so I just used their free porter service (drop off/pick up).

I didn't ask about a loaner car, but noticed a sign in the service dept. saying something about loaner cars being available only if you purchased a new/CPO car at WIS...

Just pulled carchip data to confirm the IC pump change effectiveness - very evident. Pre-fix, IAT would bounce around at 200 F (dropping as the SC was disabled, jumping as it came back); after the fix, steady at under 140.

Yep,

They used to give loaners to any customer coming in for service, so I wanted to see if they are sticking by their new policy about having requiring to have bought or leased through their dealers only thing. It's quite an inconvenience to me really, I have one car that I bought from them, and the other from a different dealer. Get treated two different ways, like a king with one, and like a criminal for the other when I ask for a loaner.

Anyway, glad you problem is solved.
