charging the battery

Can i connect a small battery charger directly to the battery while it is still on the car and connected? will it do any harm to anything electrical to be feeding it direct while still hooked up to the car?

Incidently. Car came back from the Stealership (an "A" service) and i noticed the light sensor fault- take to dealer message was on. could this be something they did at the service or just coincidence?
To make it even worse- 2 days after the service the battery was flat as a pancake. i jumped it and let it ran for 45 mins to recharge. 2 days later flat again- anyone think this could also be related to the service (they checked the battery as part of the service and it showed up fine!)
just wondering if anyone thinks this could be something they did that has messed up a connection or something? as it just seems too coincidental !

Check your charging system and make sure your interior lights are off.

Battery is either bad or something is draining it. Yes you can hook a charger up to the car and leave it charging. Make sure you put the charger on the lowest voltage you can. Best to slowely charge then a fast charge.

There was something here I thoughtwith the power seats pitching a wire and draining the battery. I could be wrong though. Not saying that is the problem but just thought I would mention it

interesting, can you expalin what you mean by "pitching a wire" ? i actually have a small 3 way wadapter for my cig lighter supplythat i just tucked under the drivers seat, i wonder if that has nudged a wire out somewhere?
any ideas which wire it was that could cause the drain.

I will serach and see but I thought someone here had a problem with the drivers seat pinching on wire which was shorting out the wire and causing the battery to drain. I will look around and see what I can find and get back with you.

This was what was causing some folks battery to drain quickly

seat control modules

Should be under the drivers side seat. Maybe un hook it and see if the battery drains. I am not saying this is the only cause that would drain a battery but it is one of probally many. With elec stuff sometines it is a nightmare.
