Couple Questions - Headlights, COMAND, tranny bump

I have just moved to Austin, TX. Can anyone recommend a good spot to get to know here it town should I need some repairs? Is the dealership my only option?

I have the old 02 'frosted' Xenon headlights. Thinking about getting some of the new 'clear' projector style. Is this something I can do on my own, or should I take it to the dealer/other?

What is the difference between the the old frosted and the new clear? I have seen references to bi-xenons. I take it this means two bulbs, but couldn't really say (might mean twice as bright for all I know - as if they needed to be any brighter). How would I know which I have and which I will be getting?

Also, my COMAND no longer works as it says I have the wrong CD. Anyone know which one is the right one (what #) for TX and where I can get one? The dealership wants $300 for a full set. Wondering if the cars were sold with full sets when new. I dont know if I have the others in a box somewhere or not.

I have the jerk / bump in my transmission at low speeds also. Nothing terrible (but noticeable), I have learned how to manage it, just that it bugs me, I dont want it to slowly get worse. I was thinking of disconnecting the battery and letting it reset. Can anyone say if this might help or hurt?

Thanks All

I'll get in and say that you should search for the answers yourself, but as a quick possibly remedy for your transmission woes : https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ight=tcu+reset

I live in Austin and I go to MB of Georgetown. They are MUCH better than the Austin location. Jimmy is fair and wants to earn your business. There is also a place called Ben's Workshop however last time I went in they put on a new wheel as requested and scratched it. I also got a quote from them for a new drivers side rear window and they were much higher than the dealer. Thus I won't use them as there is NO benefit for me.

Headlights

You can change to clear lights on your own just have to learn how to remove front bumper and its not hard....since you have frosted xenon you will have to get Depo Clear bi-xenon look headlights but will also need a HID kit and your computer setting must remain xenon present but you will loose your auto leveling feature.

Comand

Ebay sells disks but I believe Navteq.com is also a place to go which MB uses and cheaper as for # of disk look at the website and only get what you need if you use ebay but others will sell you full sets.

Tranny jerk

Well its best if you have warranty cause the dealer will fix it but the thread link provided already will help. Also try removing battery positive post it resst the ECU/TCU and fix it temporary a Sprintbooster helps but if you are into really looking for it you can still find the jerk.

Good luck

If you post on the classifieds that you want an updated CD for TX you will easily find an eager seller at a very reasonable cost.
