K&N has been around for a long long time and to stay in the game that long you have to have a good product. go to your local auto zone or parts store and get some k&n filters (you need to buy two) you wont regret it aftermarket filters are a big upgrade over stock.
I just place an order! I noticed the dealers don't even bother checking on the air filters anymore. At 50K miles, you would think someone would think hey, let's make a buck on this fellow by telling him to replace them but after 2 A Service and 1 B Service, not even one comment.

Now the interesting part will be for me to see what condition my filters are in when I open it up to replace it with the K&Ns.

You may find some debris in there…

I did the same test with the green filters. New mb filters made a hit let it cool then greens picked up 7.8 rwhp.

Fortunately my filters were not as clogged, as a matter of fact they were relatively debris free except for the corner nearest to the engine air inlet.

Here's what I've noticed so far:

MPG increased from 20.8 to 21.3 from my daily commute of 53 miles (avg speed of 50 mph)
Less kick down from the transmission. Lately I've been noticing that the transmission needs to kick down to a lower gear as I'm not getting the same quick response from the engine (happened right around 50K miles)
A tiny bit louder but it could be my imagination

Overall not bad for a $100 investment

Cars that run boost generate so much heat that 20,000+ CFM fans are required. Regardless of the airbox, a dyno shop should have a fan capable of proper airflow. Without it, the car will run hot and the dyno numbers come in low.

Marcus you are 100% correct on the fan.
