C32 2002
Aftermarket Navigation installs

Hi Guys,
I have looked over and over in the AMG and the regular C-Class forums. I am looking to have an aftermarket Navigation unti installed, most likely the Pioneer. I have a C32 2002, do I need the CARPI 131 or CARPI 133 so that my steering colum switches canbe used with the new system.
Also, I live in Toronto, do you know of any shop that has done these installs anywhere along the east coast or recommend any of them ?
Thanks
D

Personally I have the D3 in my C32 and love it. I didnt go the carpi route, but rather got the pac-audio modules to accomplish the same thing. There are a ton of posts about the install, so search away.

Well there are many choices now in the aftermarket Nav market now. I went with the Kenwood DNX7100 and its awesome! What ever choices you make try to stick to some sort of hardrive unit or Ipod since any OEM equipment will not work after the proper install. The only things that can still work is the OEM speakers if needed. Pac Audio makes steering wheel adapters that can be bought thru ebay also. I posted a thread on my new system...

i would go with aftermarket speakers too. the bose speakers suck. After installing the front speakers, the install wasn't as bad as i would it would be. You can even reuse the stock spacers for the 6.5's. You just have to redrill the holes on the spacer.

I plan to upgrade door speakers over the summmer 6.5" Focal or MBQuarts speakers components in fronts and 6.5" coaxial in rear doors....The Bose just has highs mostly barely any mid range and no low at all. But I wanted time to further research and offset the cost of this upgrade...I purchased a single Pioneer Premier SPL 10" woofer(24lbs)and a seperate ported enclosure(5-7lbs) for my Bass thank God its removable...hopefully it picks up the lousy Bose sound.

Ahh...the bose love. Remember the slogan...

No highs...no lows....just bose...

Focals will be quite nice....
