Esson motorshow 2002 C32 tuning

I went to the Essen motorshow in Germany last Saterday to find out more for about engine tuning on my C32.

I visited 3 companies (lack of time prevented me to visit evosport)

So here is a resume >

MKB tuning
They have 2 kits available.
Small version does 395 HP and 490 NM torque
Changes > high perf. camshafts with valve springs, biger pully, optimized ari intake with sports filters. Modified ECU.
Large version >
same as small version but also bigger pipes going out from the engine (sorry dont know the English word) for an additional 25 HP

Carlsson
larger pully, high perf. camshafts with valve springs, modified ECU, sports air filter and complete "auspuff anlage"
They promise 400 HP and 535 NM torque

Kleemann
Nothing is ready yet, but with a kleemann compressor they will go for around 420 HP.

MKB and Carlsson claimed that the HP gain where not based on spikes in the HP chart. Both companies offered extensive warranty on the parts they used.

Neither talked about problem with cooling the intake temperature (I did not ask either).
Kleeman did mention that without a proper cooling the engine life would surely be affected.

I wanted to talk to Evosport as well, but due to time pressure I did not make it.

Thats what is happening over here in Europe.

Ps > prices are extremely high. All offers I got where in the 8000-10000 $ range.

:o why does everyone think that larger is better.... im talking about pulleys off course

a larger pulley will make the supercharger run SLOWER, while a smaller pulley will make it spin faster!

SOOOO to get more HP out of the existing supercharger you need to decrease the size of ITS pulley

I wonder how much that carlsson kit costs... they have more reasonable prices than Brabus... and the other companies i wouldnt trus.... except MKB since they know AMG cars but i dont think they import to the US.

Everyone here is refering to a larger crakshaft pulley, not a larger supercharger pulley. You can't decrease the size of the AMG supercharger pulley without replacing the entire SC clutch assembly. Replacing the crank pulley is much easier.

I was at the Essen Show as well. MKB is the real deal!!! You will hear more about them in the states in the coming months. I had an opportunity to drive an MKB tuned C32 wagon and it is lethal. Check out MKB's website www.mkb-power.de they have an english option.

MKB was started by an AMG big wig who left AMG after DiamlerChrysler took over.
