Vehicle I drive: goes 'round the 'ring in 8:22
Uh huh?? How many times have you taken YOUR car to the RING???? I've done both Hockenheim and Nurburgring and I can see how the C32 would fare so poorly. The C55 is probably better handling, BUT I still maintain that the C32 stock versus a stock C55 is a faster vehicle (drag) and thats the real world that I live in. Except for occasional stint at the Auto Bahn Country Club, the real world USA for me is stoplight to stoplight and the occasional highway stretch worrying about getting a love letter from Uncle Sam.

Victor, speaking of which, I got my Sprintbooster just now in the mail (cheap mod everyone tells me to do); Got the BDD 451A2 (hope thats the right one) and will let you know how I fare for this mod. I know it doesnt make it faster, but am told it FEELS faster. So I guess if I feel faster, I am faster

Ask, and you shall receive:
To give you perspective, here are laptimes of cars that are in the same "class" as the C55 from previous Sport Auto Supertests around the Nurburgring (considered by most to be a very good indication of the OVERALL performance of a car....acceleration and handling). Remember that they have used the same pro driver for all of their Supertests, so the driver factor should not be much of an issue. In order from slowest to fastest:
W202 C43 AMG: 8:51
B5 S4: 8:42
W203 C32 AMG: 8:37
E36 M3: 8:35
B6 S4 Avant: 8:29
E92 335i: 8:26
B5 RS4 Avant: 8:25
W203 C55 AMG: 8:22
E46 M3: 8:22
B7 RS4: 8:09 (on R-compound tires, which could shave 5-10 seconds off the time on a long track like this)
E92 M3: 8:05 (also on R-compound tires)
W204 C63 AMG: **coming soon**

Yesterday, Autoweek posted a video of the new "V" circling the ring in 7:59.32. Cadillac is claiming this is the fastest a production sedan has ever circled the ring. I guess they are correct. Damn. I have hated that car.
By the way, check it out for yourselves:

Wow, those number put the new Cadillac CTS V video into perspective.

Its all BS, it all depends on the driver, just like Chevy did with the ZO-6 and the ZR-1 when they set records. The guy they hired has logged about 100,000 miles on the "Ring." If you know the Ring, you can go very very fast there!!

Face it, sub 8 minutes around the ring, in a production sedan, is impressive, not BS.
I still want the C63 though.

It's not all BS. That's why the numbers I listed for the ring were from Sport Auto magazine, which uses the SAME PRO DRIVER for every test they do on the Ring. The only variables left are the track conditions and whether they used R-compounds or not.
You're right in implying that comparing laptimes around the Ring from different drivers/magazines/manufacturers is totally BS.

The only thing I can say is I would love to drive my 32 around it. WOW an 8 minute circuit, I can't even imagine the fun that would bring to my face
Disclaimer: Not that I would do any better, just want the chance
See yeah
PS: R tires are good for about 4-6 seconds on a treack that is only 1:20 long, aka nelson ledges, or about 3-5 seconds at one that is 1:10 long, aka Beaverun, FYI

I agree that the driver makes a huge difference. But if this guy is that good, why wouldn't every manufacture hire him to drop their times? I wonder what he would do in the M3 or C63.

Thats why they used a "hired gun," to make the car go as fast as possible. Us mere mortals who would be lucky to do a 9 or 10 minute lap would never do that in the Ratillac, like he did.
Check this out from Wikipedia: Its is him:
In recent years, he has been retained as the senior test driver for Porsche road cars, famously setting quick laptimes for them testing round the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife, for example with the Porsche Carrera GT.

This about the New Caddy : John Heinricy driving it:
This is Kevin from Cadillac writing to provide clarification on the questions regarding the harness bar and racing seats in the 2009 CTS-V that set the new stock production sedan lap record on the Nordschleife. This 2009 CTS-V that John Heinricy drove to set the record was an absolutely stock, right down to the production-spec Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires, 2009 CTS-V with a few minor changes to add safety that wouldn't in any way positively impact the result. As Chris already posted, the item that people see in the car and refer to as a "roll bar" or "role cage" isn't either. This is simply a harness bar that mounts to the floor and B-pillars to enable the use of a six-point racing harness for added safety. This harness bar is intentionally installed in the car so that it DOES NOT increase the torsional rigidity of the chassis or in any way change the way the chassis will function so their testing and development work will be of value for the production car. The racing seats are installed for added safety as well and don't positively impact the performance of this production-spec CTS-V because the lighter weight of the racing seats is a little more than offset by the added weight of the steel harness bar. In all, this production CTS-V weighs a few pounds MORE than the production car because of the weight of the harness bar and the few

IT would be nice to know who fast c55's and 32's go around the top gear track with a driver that has beaten on every fast car known to man.
Things to think about when talking times at "the Ring". The huge back straight, our cars will hit 155mph and no more. With that said times could or should be better if the Gov was non existent. Not saying that the time would be much better but it might be a bit better at the Ring. All I know is I'd hand my car over to the tame racing driver.... Some say when he farts it sounds like a turbo waste gate..... All I know is he's call the Stig!

"Kevin from Cadillac" is either lying through his teeth or simply doesn't know any better

as newzchspy said, dragtimes.com is probably a better source for numbers....the ones with actual slips showing 60 foot, temp and humidity.
i ran a white countach in in my 2003 clk55...he was so far behind i thought it was a kit car. not really a fair comparison between todays amg's to a 20 year old lambo. but it was fun as hell....his wife was laughing so hard.

All the magazine test times are all over the place. Who knows where they got most of their times from for that site.. For the times that they list for the 97 NSX and 01 NSX are a big difference considering the weight and power were unchanged for those years. Looks like Car & Driver got into the 12's though..
1997 Acura NSX-T 4.8 13.3
2001 Acura NSX V6 4.5 12.9 (C&D)
