OzAcOmOtOrSpOrt - i am not selling my engine. I offered to sell it to you becuase if you offered me a good price i Would have sold it to you. The reason i have the amg is becuase like eveyrone knows. resale sucks. and the dude i got it from gave me such a sweet deal none of you would refuse.

a few of you compared resale value to "other european cars" I do not think other european cars have such bad resale and european cars are not the majority in the market and please do not defend the benz saying its an amazing car becuase it is the EXACT OPPOSITE why resale sucks. if it was truly an amazing car it would truly have amazing resale. when you spend $50k on a car the least you could expect is that you wouldnt need to do a single maintenance on it for at least the next 5 years(at least thats how my sisters lexus is)other than oil changes and fluid wash ofcourse.
When I mentioned luxuries, I have never seen shades that come up at the press of a button or an alarm that turns on cause you lift the car a foot off the ground, or an automated service that notifies authories with GPS coordinates after the alarm is on for a certain period of time...at a cost), self activated wipers.. im not used to that stuff.
Please note im not trying to bash on any of you for buying one cause I got one too. I'm just saying it how it is. Overall this car isnt special at all and it is gradually falling behind. Yes it is fun to drive. I paid for it. I didnt even pay for it. Incompetant drivers that cause accidents paid for it. So the satisfaction that I got out of the car for the penny I spent on it is awesome. But the reason why I got it is cause I got it real cheap compared to other c32's. If i had a chance to take a Japanese car of my tastes for a very low price as well, I would have chosen that over this. Just becuase we own one doesnt mean its the best.

Sorry but this car just doesn't include my tastes. I'm young, I need a sports manual car. I don't need luxuries now. Maybe when I'm older and lazier. So I can argue all day about how Benz sucks, or just doesn't include any of my tastes. These are just my opinions you guys have your reasons for owning these cars. Their not all the same.

OzAcOmOtOrSpOrt, how much extra money do you have for this project?

Do you have an extra $10k, beyond the price of the Engine & Transmission?

The electronics for the C36 in the C230 will be the deal breaker. It is usually the little stuff that makes these swaps difficult, for instance, you will need the C32 fuel pump assembly.

Best to get a salvage C32 or Crossfire SRT-6. Even then it will take some work
to get the electronics and sensors all matched up, especially if the year is different.

It can be done, but how much are you committed? Money and time.....

 

I have a 3.2L Kompressor Motor (SRT6, SLK32, and C32) motor in my garage with on 5,000 miles on it. The engine is complete, minus 1 ignition coil and the stock crank pulley.

Just a guess, but I'm thinking a major accident with brain trauma. It would explain a lot.

If you didn't (or did?) pay for it, why do you care about resale?
