. If you win his woman will jump into your car like in the movies
JK, but if I had a vette driver talk crap bout my car, I'd run him even tho his car was faster.

The ECU freaks out when you hit the brake+gas. My best power-brake time is 1.79 (Drag Radials) versus 1.67 leaving at 1200 RPM (street tires.)
So true, I made that mistake when I did the Lexus drive event for the new IS400F. I tried to "power brake the car" and the engineer told me that on ALL cars that screws up the ECU. The ECU can't recognize a brake and accelerator at the same time and what it then does is shut down the "gas" since braking gets priority. Once I stopped that, times improved dramatically on the car over the autocross course.
On the web, there's a guy who runs 10.85 at 129.00 (fastest stock Z06 in the world) in a totally stock Z06. Find that and he's got some great tips for running the quarter. One thing he does mention is NOT hammering it right off the line (you'll go up in smoke). Looks cool but does nothing for times. If you know you WONT spin, then by all means, hammer it, BUT if spinning is an issue, which it is with my C32, then I tap (to get the revs up a bit) and then go.
He also says "go around the water trough" since all that does is get the rear and front tires wet and the rears follow the fronts and get wet from the fronts. He backs the rears into the water and then lights them up without the fronts getting wet at all. All is good advice.
