Question Discontinuing c32???

I'm confused here, my cousin was going to trade in his e36 m3 and get a c32, but one of his friends said something about a c35? Supposedly the c32 is goign to be discontinued and replaced with the more powerful c35????? WTF are they talking about, is this true? Need some help.

There is no information about a potential C35 - people are extrapolating because MB is moving the various cars with 3.2 V6 over to the 3.7 V6. The ML350, for example, is already in showrooms.

It is possible that the 2004 C AMG is a C35 but I bet it doesn't happen until 2005, if then.

If you wait long enough, the whole car will change! After all, they make a whole new car every 6 to 8 years!

Gee, maybe they'll come out with a C55! But then again, maybe not.

Waiting for some hypothetical new change is an exercise in frustration - just buy the thing!

The SL350 is also going to make it's way to the showrooms soon, followed by the E350 and S350. I think a C35 AMG sounds plausible, and would make sense... remember the C43 which replaced the C36?? Wasn't that much faster though the C43.

Unless BMW do something to make their 330 up to 335. It's not likely that MB will have larger engine for the C-class as of now. Very often you see MB only does something with their product when it's out done by rival BMW. i.e. E420 grew to E430 in 98 or 99?? to compete with the 540's 4.4 V8. C320 came right after BMW annouce the retirement of the 2.8 liter I-6.

anyway, all that aside. I wouldn't wait for something that as of now it's only a rumor. Usually car magazine is pretty accurate with these kind of information. From the example, my guess is that MB is only putting the 350/3.7 liter engine into the larger vehicle that does need this kind of power.

cheers

Porsche Turbo Stage 4, Cayenne S ... gone C43, C32, ML55 & Ducati 999.
My version that which will be the replacement of the C32 is a C38, with 6-speed auto in 2005, when the new SLK comes.
The engine will came from the SL 350, but I am sure that the Kompressor that the AMG will install on the C38 will have the same boost of the new 55 Kompressor engines 0.9 bar. Thus, the hp will be slightly improved to, I guess, 370-380; however, a huge improvement in torque, I guess, 500-520 Nm so far. Our C32 has 1 bar and the potentiality of the C38 will be realistically higher, due to the lower OEM boost and intercooler capabilities.
No doubt that the C38 will be quicker, especially in the highway due to the better torque and the 6-speed…..
Bye

The C32 does not share the same engine as the C320, only the same displacement. Of course, anythin is possible in the future, but I don't think the 350 engine will have much of an impact on what (if anything) is chosen.
