buying wheels advice; 19x8.5 front and 19x9.5 rear OR 19x8.5 all fours

hi fellas

i need some advice for buying wheels

I know the trend here is 8.5 inch fronts (245 tyres) and 9.5 or 10 rears (255-265 tyres).

can anyone chime in how 19x8.5 setup on all fours (245 tyres all round) would affect the handling?

I personally love the staggered look, just can rotate the tires

if you drive a lot of miles i say get the same size so you can rotate them. I got the 19 x 8.5 with a 235 tire all around and i already driven 12,000 miles on them in less than 4 months. There still good tread on the tires since i rotate them.

I thought the car would understeer more from stock since i'm going from a 255 to 235 rear but i actually understeer less.

But yeah, if you dont drive a lot. Go with the staggered look. For me, i didnt want to have to buy tires every 4-6 months.

sure it will understeer less because you changed the bias as it was. You must light those 235's up all day long.

Rotating would be huge those as my rears are done again and the fronts look fine. I believe you can fit 245's. Too bad you can't fit 255's + Watch offsets on 8.5" rims for the front as some require spacers or they're hit the brakes in the front, which is lame- ehem BBS.

If you care about performance, just make sure you are paying attention to wheel & tire weight. I put some SL55 wheels (18x8.5 / 18x9.5" with Avon tires) on my car and they were 8-10 lbs heavier PER WHEEL than my stock setup. I could feel a loss of acceleration. I quickly switched to SLK55 wheels (18x7.5 / 18x8.5 with Pirelli PZero Rosso's) which weighed almost exactly the same as the stock setup and got my acceleration back.

Also, trying to steer a rotating wheel is further complicated with more rotational mass. Lighter wheels will require less effort on the grey leather wheel.

Anyway, my vote is for staggered. Less rotational mass up front and a good look. If you're worried about understeer, you can beef up your rear swaybar.
