219 CLS Wheels on C55

Hi just brought a set of wheels (new) from a 219 CLS for my C55 8.5 x 18 ET25 Front and 9.5 x 18 ET28 Rear. I have the correct bolt package, and know that the front with a 225/40/18 tyre will fit okay but my problem is with the rear. Will a 265/35/18 be okay (with no rubbing) or would i be much safer fitting a 255/35/18? Thanks in advance.

Uh actually the front will probably have problems at et25. With the sl variants of the same type with et 30 it's right at the fender. I think 28 is the same problem. I'm at 33 rear without problems and know that 31 works but over that cannot say with a 9.5. Also when you say correct bolts you mean like the ones I run? e.g. 12mm with 14mm seat if not that's worrisome. length is also different fwiw.

I tried 265 rears on stock rims on my C55 and wasn't happy. Left side rubbed badly with 3 passengers. Even with just me aboard I'd get a brief light rub over large bumps. Dropping back to 255 (along with change in tire brand) completely eliminated the rub.

The offset is a bit aggressive, but I think you could make it work w/ 225/40 in the front and 255/35 in the rear, at long as you make sure you get tires w/ rounded/thinner side walls. Also must get the proper sized ball seat, thread, and length for your bolts to seat the wheel properly while threading into the wheel hub the proper length.

I dont think the front is a big deal, but the back might need fender rolling even w/ 255 in the rear if you are really low on COs and/or having a weird weight distribution of our passengers in the back.

Thanks for all useful comments. I did get the bolt size checked with an alloy wheel specialist, and will probably play safe and go for 225/35/18 rear and get the rear arches rolled at a future date.

What was the result, you went with the 225 on the rear!? you where mentioning the 255 or 265 and opted for the 225!?
I couldn't understand!

I'm with the same problem, but only for the rear since I have OEM AMG 18" W209 but want a wider wheel for the rear and noticed the CLS wheels, but the ET28 is the big question and if it will fit!
I want to use the CLS wheel 18x9.5ET28 at the rear with 255x35R18 tyre, should this set be ok on the w209?!

Thanks
