Rain sensative wipers plug ?

I got a new windscreen installed at Merc a week ago, it rained yesterday and the rain sensor doesn't seem to be working now. I am taking it in for them to fix it on Friday, but is there a plug or something I can check myself to aviod the hassle of taking it in ?

I had my windshield replaced and the same thing happened. After a couple days they decided to start working again on their own. The MB rep said something about the computer needing to reset...although that seems to be their answer for everything.
There are two plugs under the rear view mirror and I believe one sensor is for the lights and the other the auto rain sensor. There is another right above the battery but I believe that is for the actual wiper motor. I'm no mechanic, but when they were trying to trouble shoot the problem, that was what they were looking at before the problem fixed itself with time.

Silly question here, but is it pretty obvious if the sensor is working or not?

I ask because I got my C55 used and its always worked the same to me so I can't tell if there is any difference. But I've always suspected its not working right because even though the wipers work, the delay between wipes never seems to change and it keeps wiping every 5 secs or so - even when the glass is dry.

Bump!

I'd like some feedback from anybody else with rain-sensing wipers. My warranty runs out this year and I need to know if I should take it in or not.

I know it sounds silly, but I don't know if the sensor is broken or not because I don't know what "normal" is with the rain sensor activated. My wipers work, but the interval doesn't seem to change with or without rain.

Should it be obvious or is it more subtle?

If you are under warranty, why not just take it in regardless?

It should be obvious if it's working or not. I use mine all the time being on the MS Gulf coast and love the auto feature. The most obvious difference is when you are moving and when you come to a stoplight. Mine also don't always go the same speed. It is quiet speratic actually.

Simple test, is there a difference between one twist (auto sensor) and two twists (slow speed) on your wiper controls? If they are the same speed all the time, there is something fishy going on. Another test is when you leave your wipers on the auto mode, every time you start the car it should do one pass of the wipers regardless of wet or dy.

Hope this helps and good luck. BTW, if your warranty expires, I hope you are dumping the car or renewing. You do NOT want to own this car with no warranty. That, or have very deep pockets and funds available. Repairs aren't cheap on these as I'm sure you're aware.
