Custom Exhaust is done! pics and sound.
Got out of work a bitearly today and went over to the exhaust shop and an hour and a half later I was a new true duel exhaust complete with 2.5 inch pipe No dyno yet I will have to wait until next week to do that. anyway here are some pics. And yes the custom make xpipe is opened and functional, I guess its just their way of making an x-pipe. The car has a way meaner sound than what i did last week. This video does no justice to the real sound this car makes. I was turning heads all over the place and i got zero droning as well.

There is no cabin sound to speak of at low rpm and slow normal driving. but as soon as you step on it just explodes. people are really not going to be able to put two and two together when i come ripping past them.

G'damm!! I thought it sounded good before but this is just fantastic! You should do some runs from a standstill and see how it sounds as you pull away

Na she really is a awesome girlfriend she just isnt into cars and thinks i spend to much time and money on it.
We went to dinner tonight and all she said was my car is loud, this could open the door to sneaking in some more expesive mods...wonder what that could be![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)

Not really on the butt dyno it was a cool 100 degrees out today here in AZ so that might be playing into it. I can defiantly tell there is much more added flow. how that plays into +/- HP IDK? the car really does have a boom when you stomp on it thats for sure I will have a Dyno hopfully by Monday and that will tell the truth. Even if I gained 10-15hp its just so hard to feel that small of a gain IMO. The exhaust has a lot more bass than it did before. I really should have taken it to the dyno today. I always do dynos 2 seconds after the mods so it will be cool to let it sit for a bit and then see what happens. Try to see it there is any truth to the car adjusting to new stuff, as the rumor goes. I know it did on the crank pulley. I just wonder if it works for this kind of mod that creates better flow?

Sounds good! And I'll be the first to tell you it's "dual" not "duel." I think your exhaust might challenge a few to a duel however...

Ok hear it is: Most people cut out the resonator for sound reasons and that alone sounds great, I did this first and loved it. I then (at a later date) cut out my secondary cats and picked up some wheel horsepower along with a much meaner sound. I was told if i went to a true dual exhaust i could gain a bit more power (yet to be proven) So I went to an exhaust shop and for $305 after tax. had then chop off the exhaust system from the part were the two pipes start to make the turn to run under the driveshaft. The exhaust was chopped at the muffler so I could have larger 2.5 inch pipe all the way to the mufflers rather than have it bottle neck like the stock system does. The exhaust is a four piece system (two mandrel bent 2.5 inch pipes per side.) Notches were cut in the the pipe and welded together to make an xpipe. (I kinda expected something diff but it is what it is) Custom hangers were made to make sure the new pipe was not moving around, this is a must have IMO. Total time in the shop was 1.5 hours. Any quality exhaust shop can do this The car is louder than just a res-delete and a res cat delete. If you dont want your car to be loud or louder with a much more aggressive sound then this is not for you and understandable as it is a Mercedes. The car can tend to have a loud mustang kinda sound but with the power to back it up. This is just something you will have to deal with if you go true dual. IMO their is no need to go after market mufflers as the stockers sound good enough. Going to true dual exhaust is a way to get your Mercedes noticed. Sound rates are as followed Res-delete = loud res and secondary cat delete = louder with a nice metallic rasp at high RPMs with some added power gains. True duel no 2end cats no res = loudest much more bass to the exhaust note and some droning coming from the back of the car. If your into loud cars with a slight exotic sound this is the mod for you if not just stick with the standard setup.

Nice work hooleyboy, but why did they set up the pipes to hang that low?!? If you look at the last pic you posted (one from the rear), it looks like they could've been at least a couple inches higher, tucked into the recesses on either side of the diff heat sink. Agree that you'll have to be really careful with speed bumps and other road irregularities to avoid damaging that pretty SS...
