Major improvement in wheel painting technique.
This past weekend I set about repainting my 944's original wheels (really dull MFers) mimicking a classic Ferrari theme:

I painted my C32 wheels a while back and the masking job was a MAJOR pain in the a$$. Well, I recently had some renovation in the house and the contractors used this plastic sheeting that had a sticky side to it. It's like a huge, plastic masking tape with the texture of a trash can bag. I went to the local paint store and picked up a roll. 24" x 50' is the size -- perfect since wheels are about 24" wide. I stretched the stuff loosely over a wheel. Press it down where I'm going to cut, then cut with a razor. I could mask of a wheel in like 60 seconds, while the old tape method was 15-20 minutes AND it sucked. Results below.

That is a very ingenius method of masking. From the photos, it appears to have worked well for you.
The color of the gold is....greenish. Is that just the lighting?
When do we get to see photos of the wheels on the 944?

They're not on the 944 yet. I'm putting some heat cycles into my new Toyo RA1s (although heat cycles are tough when its 40-something degrees out!).
The good news is that if they look like hell, it won't take me much time to re-repaint them.

Really, I was curious if you painted the backs of the wheels also. If not, do you see the old silver through the holes?
