A different type of wheel question
I have noticed that many people run with very wide rims but the tires dont always run to the edge of the rim. Obvisously the wheel is able to hold a size or two wider.
It appears that it allows extra clearance in the wheel well as the wheel tends to narrow on the rim. Is there a danger in doing this? I can understand the danger in putting a tire that is too wide on a rim that cannot accomodate it. But in the case of a narrow tire...?

The benefits seem clear but maybe I am missing somethings. For example, I was thinking of running a 265 tire on a 18x9.5 rim. I dont want to take a chance with the tire rubbing the wheel well or fender lip. I suppose that I will have a more stiff ride due to the reduced tire profile.
Thoughts?
Secondly, how difficult is it to find an 18" wheel that would fit over the AMG brakes? I hear alot about how the AMG brakes get in the way of most wheels. Is this a problem with 19" wheels? Where does the brake interference take place. I rather not go with 19' wheels. But finding larger 18's proves to be difficult. Any ideas?
Spacers? I hear good and bad. Track days with spacers? Bad idea? Wheel bearing stress? Hmmm?

Thanks,
Miguel
Just find a wheel that accomadates the car correctly rather than trying to go with wide tires. Well 265 in the rears shouldn't be a problem maybe any wider and will rub.
