Off topic car-wise but...(SLA-class revival?)

I've seen some stories saying that MB is mulling the idea of a roadster based on the A-class, not terribly unlike the SLA roadster protoype made back in '02.

I remember when this car was in testing, I was very excited, as I liked the designs, and the metal grate manual transmission. Any thoughts on this? For it? Against it?

its probably to complete with the new mid engined vw and audi roadsters coming out. Its supposed to be priced at $25-45k. I'm guessing $25k for the vw and up to $45k for the audi

I think the issue mercedes is having is, do they really want to move the mercedes brand name down market below the $30k mark.

Who cares, a $100k benz will be sub $30k after a year of depreciation anyway. My as well start out at rock bottom in the first place so they theoretically "hold" their value more. I'm loosely exaggerating...

I say bring it on as it sounds like a fun, affordable car and could be a good move for them. Bimmer has the 1 series and is doing well with it. Different car, same principle. I can't honestly see Benz offering anything under $30k new however.

lol the 1-series is only below $30k if you add nothing. Once you add all the basic necessities its already the price of a 335i..lol.

Mercedes should just make a $25k roadster and put it under the smart brand. It'll introduce people to mercedes brand since they have to buy them at the mercedes dealership anyways.

If it looks anything similar to the SLA Vision, or *is* the SLA Vision, I'll buy it in a heartbeat.
