So other than buying an E55 is there anything to be done about squeezing out a few more horsepower from the C55?

Headers and ECU Tune would probably give you the biggest bang for the buck (I have the Kleeman ones coming). Also, AirBox, underdrive pulleys, liteweight crank pulley for starters...... read hooleyboys thread as it lays everything out really well...
