I need a picture of the area where the shutoff valve is on our C32 Charcol Canister. I have error code P0455 and MB tech told me to try a process to check it and it's still kind off hard to identify if shutoff valve is activating so I may just buy one but I want to know if I have to replace the whole Charcol canister or if shut off valve is seperate...please help.

Just so we are on the same page - you got a P0455 code and the MB tech is telling you to check out the 'charcoal canister'? I wasn't aware we had one (aside from the AC charcoal filter).
Obviously the code suggests a compromise in the fuel system - perhaps hoses, etc.?

Anytime, Victor.
No fancy graphics like our resident mad scientist, but I was able to dig this up from the ol’ reference library.
The charcoal canister’s shutoff valve (Y58/4, #25) is replaceable separately. Its part number is 000 470 71 93. ~$110 street price. It’s on its fourth rendition, so chances are pretty fair it has probably proven problematic for MB. That, or they are merely consolidating their inventory for our dated chassis. If you can locate a 000 470 49 93 in a dealer’s NLA inventory, they’re slightly less expensive at about $85.

Thank you both
the engine light comes on here and there but I also get the red display alert to check gas cap well it was checked thuroughly as was the area for the filler for the gas tank..the MB tech said its very rare but to check by turning can on within 2-3 minutes a clicking noise starts from big black evap thing behind right headlight then feel the valve to feel for movement. All we could really do was try to feel for it but its hard so we disconnected the power to the canister and re-plugged it in and put everything back to normal and hope for the best which so far so good...I wanted to kmow if that part was sold seperately. Thanks guys!

Well it seems fine after unplugged and replugged...I would get the red light display gas cap warning and engine light daily but none so far today so maybe it was in open position stuck and once unplugged it started to work again...![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
But happy not seeing that darn warning for a whole day I will review this in a week to let you all know how things are.
The funny part in removing the rear right wheel well cover some screws where hard to find due to the thick residue of tire left from doing burnouts prior to dragging car.![rolf](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
Overall it appears to be an easy DIY if needed but we never got as far as thought originally but the charcol canistor looked to be a PITA to remove if need be. But who knows.
