So, if I get the Stone Carbon vented hood and go on a diet, I can beat Jake's old C32 1/4 mile record? I only need .1 sec.

If it were silver CF and the right price, I would be. Same for the trunk.

VIS fits fine on the 32/regular 203 front. not sure about the one for C55/CLK.

Wasn't talking about any specific model since I don't have any personal experience. But since you brought it up, it was mostly the CLK crowd that I heard it from. The C55 hood is different than the CLK so, may be it is fine. But in general, people report poorly laid weave and other negatives regarding VIS. At the end of the day, the search button works the same for everyone (I think, even though sometimes I wonder).
You know a lot about CF. I remember some of the epic threads on this subject. What is your general opinion about VIS? Myself - I went with Stone Carbon.

well, VIS is a wet lay process with fiberglass back like all others (other than Technocraft with their dry-carbon hood). The main thing between all these companies is the fitment. mine fits pretty well, but i've seen VIS that doesn't fit well as well, so it's all about the worker's attention to detail during the production. my general opinion on VIS products are that they are way over priced for their products. same material, similar dimension a jdm hood is much cheaper than their offering for european cars. weight of these wet-carbon hoods are determined by how much fiberglass back and resin you put into them and for VIS they are able to keep them light and evenly distributed.

one of my buddy who has a euribuni (sp??) hood and you can tell that it's a little thicker. i've not seen the Stone Carbon products. the VIS resin doesn't seem to yellow as quick as well.

as long as you get a product that is as advertised and you are happy about it is all that matter.

edit: VIS cf hood for the regular 203s are around $600 on amazon btw.

Frank,
Thanks. Technocraft is sex with twins. I agree that a lot depends on the person laying the carbon, assuming the underlying mold is good. Stone Carbon is the same factory that Dads is using for the C63 vented hoods GB. I think theirs is about $1500 shipped. I wanted a vented hood for the C32. So I contacted Carl from Stone Carbon and one is coming my way on 2/15 for just a little more than VIS with shipping. I just have to deal with customs paperwork. What a PITA. I think the cargo finally cleared Suez yesterday. I was a bit worried.

Ebay C55 CF hood in silver

I canceled my order from VIS for $1100 thanks to the feedback from this forum but I ordered the Ebay with the Euro Vents for $1400 shipped from Master_Kit in China. That's $400 off!

I have only one concern. The picture on Ebay does not show actual vent openings, only recessed or raised areas for the vents. Do you think they did not carve out the vents due to the weakness it may cause?

For that money, ask them for more pictures. Also, $1400 shipped to your house or just the nearst port? What about customs fees? The tariff should be 2.5%.
