Need new tires, getting wheels too. Yet another size question.
My eagle f1's are about getting pretty skimpy. I figure this time around I'm getting new wheels too. Probably the black/silver c63 reps from the powersheelspro people advertising in classifieds...they look sick, imho.
So the wheels are 18x8.5 for all four. I'm wondering if I can just stick the same size tire all the way around. I like being able to rotate my tires. :-)
I saw Frank W. say the proper size on an 18" wheel is 255/35r18. Wondering if I can run that tire size in the front too?
Thanks,
Rich

white and whiter
if you are doing 18x8.5 all around I would suggest 235/40/18 all around. this way you don't loose much contact patch at all while can rotate the tires if you wish.
255 is too big to fit on the front. at most I've only seen 245 on the front, but it's also a little overkill.

Hmmm. With the 235/40/18 will I have more contact patch than I do with the stock wheels? That's something I would definitely like to accomplish. I need more traction, heh.

Right now I have 245/35-18s on all 4 wheels on my C-55 with no problem. Bought 4 new Michelin PS2s 2 years ago in this size to drive at Summit Point after I broke some ribs and did not want to endure the pain of changing the wheels at the track. Usually run Hoosiers in that size on same size BBS wheels all around. Anyway, when I got home I tried the 245s on the standard front wheels. No problem. They pooch out a little as they are too wide for the wheel. I believe that the rear wheels will also fit the front but you could check with the dealer or Tire Rack to confirm. If you want to use the stock front wheels, 235 is probably as wide as you want to go, without the pooching appearance.
