Can someone point me to a good source for the newer key fobs and the part numbers to get them? Thanks.

Someone told me they just ordered a replacement from MB and the fob that came was the new style.

I was hoping to avoid the stealership. I read here some time ago about members purchasing the fob from an after market source but can't find the posting. Thanks

I always hear rumors of that; but then I also hear that no matter what they have to be programmed by the stealership. This is all hearsay though, because somehow I have survived on one key on my last two Mercs.

It was from oempartsdirect.com and they are no longer on the web. They where a dealer selling parts for big discounts. I get my new key for $70.00 shipped. Had to fax proof of ownership before they would do it. The new key just feels better.

Don't waste your time MBUSA is auditing dealers all the time now on keys. This is probably why oempartsdirect no longer sells them online. It's MB's policy that the car needs to be at the dealership so I doubt you will find any one willing to do this via fax.

Do not buy any keys from Ebay, or any retailer telling you that you need to get the key programmed once you recieved it.

The $65-$70 price for the new style chrome keys was a price entry error that has been long fixed. Noone sells them for that price anymore.
