Close Call

Along with my day job I'm the Division Representative for the APA Pool League here in Chester County PA. I was checking on a table last night on my way home from work and was running late to get out of there and home to pick up the wife for a dinner date we had so I was a bit distracted in the rush.

I pulled out of the parking lot, went to the stop sign and somehow in all the steering wheel manuevering hit the paddle shifter so the car was locked down in 1st gear. I'm at the stop sign and didn't notice.

This is a blind curve where I was trying to pull out so I started to make my left hand turn slowly and then see a car flying around the corner. I punch it to avoid getting creamed on the drivers side. Well I got out of the way alright, but being stuck in 1st gear and not really being prepared for it was quite a ride.

Ended up doing my best "Fast and Furious - Tokyo Drift" impersination and narrowly missed a few parked cars. The best part was that I was so focused on the car coming at me that I didn't even realize I was sliding until I caught the LSD (or whatever that light is) flashing at me that I'd lost traction on the road.

Couple of things.
1. I never drive like that so it was freaking cool as **** to know that this car is an absolute animal if you want it to be. I stopped to catch my breath once I regained control and the guys who were standing at the bar were giving me the thumbs up. I was like, "Not showing off, just holding on for dear life". They had no idea what an AMG was and thought I was on NOS or something. Funny actually.
2. Did I hurt anything by doing that with the LSD thing on.
3. I don't recall if I hit the rev limiter, but assume that I did....that doesn't hurt anything does it?

I just can't help but feel like I damaged something b/c, like I said, typically don't drive like that...............but may start after that experience.

Guess the only shameful part is that I've been driving the car for about 10 months and never knew it was this much of an animal. Knew it was fast, have done the high speed thing plenty of times, but the low end stuff is just as fun and I feel like I literally could have blown the back tires off it if I kept the gas peddle mashed.

Man, I have to stop working so much and get out and enjoy life before I'm dead.

Thats LSD thing doesn't exist on your car (mechanically anyway) unless you have a Quaife. It was the ESP electronic nanny stepping in to tell you "Bad boy." You car has an electronic ESP (which is an electronic LSD that really doesnt work that well other than to shut your car down at sometimes the most inopportune time. Mine constantly flashes on in the 32 and more often in the 55 when its cold and car is running very strong and tires are cold as well. Get a Quaife and you'll experience a true LSD in its purest sense.

I think I gave my wife one of those last night Oh wait, that was something else!

Thanks for the info....I knew it was the ESP after I hit the send button (I think I had LSD on the brain from reading some other posts), but was way too lazy to go back and edit.
