yet another tire question

I just got a set of Nitto NT05's for the rear, 265.35.18 on a 9.5 inch wheel. Not I'm thinking I can fit a 275 back there. To do that should I go down a side wall to a 30? Hmmmmmmm?

EDIT: opps, they dont make a 275 in a 30 side wall.. so how about a 285.30.18? Hmmmmmmmmm?

its all that tq...if you gas it a lot. All that tq kills the tread life on the tires.

No free lunch with tires... if you want R-Compound-like levels of grip, you're going to sacrifice a good bit of treadwear. Heavy car with lots of torque is going to eat through tires on the drive wheels in short order.

Obviously, I don't have this problem nearly as bad as some of the C55 guys, but this is exactly why I started buying used tires and take off's on ebay. I buy tires with about half tread on them for $20-$40 a piece and then take them to Walmart where they mount them for $8 bucks a corner. I found a great used tire guy in the Philly area so I don't even have to pay shipping. Though, if the tire's got a lot of tread or is cheap enough it's even worth it to pay shipping. I just took off a full set of PS2's for which I paid $160 for the lot. I know it sounds cheap, but I hate the damn ESP button! Plus, if I get a type of tire I don't like, it's no big deal.
