What tires do you use in cold weather?

I may be making a trip in the Benz up north this winter and I need some winter tires.

What kind of tires do you guys use in freezing weather? And is there a significant difference between cheap winter tires and more expensive ones?

Thanks!

We all have our favs BUT I am still partial to the Blizzaks for the car (WS60) and the Nokians Hakepellitas R SUV for the truck. Recent tests show the New Blizzaks are great in the snow and ice. X Ice Michelins are good too. Anything snow rated is better than a summer or even "all season " tire. Tire Rack just released a test last week on the latest passenger tires and I think the Blizzak was the best for that particular BMW 328 iX
