Didn't see much in my cursory searches so just wanted to share some good news on glass replacement.
Got an awful crack on the windshield. Had heard AAA, my insurer, was a pain on that kind of thing. But, called them up and used one of their recommended installers (which had a good reputation on Yelp).
To make a long story short, the shop had to call AAA's special "shop line" to get approval on the OEM glass, but got the approval without a hitch. They did the replacement at my house in less than an hour. First class PPG Solextra with rain sensor and even the tiny little etched Mercedes star - all perfect.
So, don't give up on getting that windshield fixed back to its original condition.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I need mine fixed, I have a large crack on the passenger side that bugs me, but paying $500 for glass that is just cosmetically damaged really does not appeal to me. It's still bugs the hell out of me. I PDR some dents on my car and gave the guy around $200, but door dings kill me, I can live with the crack.

Did the standard deductible apply? Been with AAA for years.
No crack, but the pitting in ours makes it hazardous to see through at times.
Never filed a claim for fear of getting dumped or them jacking our already steep rates - I’m pure profit.
Do make good use their ‘free’ maps though. Especially with COMAND.

Yes, $100 deductible in this case. Originally Posted by splinter

I have been thinking exactly the same way and got tired of being such a profit center for them. Too often, those with lots of insurance "use it" the least, huh? And, our rates are high in part due to those who abuse it.
