Anyone have a stock crank pulley become unbalanced?
However, yes, some minimal axial and radial runout is considered normal.
The elastomer between the inner and outer portions is subject to wear and deterioration after millions of cycles. MB has issued recalls for defective harmonic dampers originally installed on thousands of their engines, including early M112s, although the C32 was never included among them.
If yours is suspect, have it replaced pronto. Had one come unglued on a SBC at ~7000 rpm. Made a heck of a mess! Never one to tempt fate, I swapped the C32’s OE damper for a quality aftermarket piece.
