Bixenon passenger autolevel doesn't work

My driver side autolevel works as normal (adjusts when accelerating over 5mph or so), but the passenger side does not. I tried searching through this, the W209 forum, and the CLK55 forum without much luck.

Does anyone have any ideas what it might be? I haven't tried opening the headlight yet - I want to have an idea before I do it... Ideas:
- Headlight motor dead? (if it's done by motor?)
- I also saw something about an adjuster knob end becoming disconnected from the reflector, but wasn't sure if that was for the manual adjustment or autolevel adjustment
- Does the purple/pink tube that plugs into the headlight have anything to do with it? What does this tube do?

Greatly appreciate any help

this is easy to check. pop off the dust cover for the low beam and try to jiggle the bulb up and down. if the whole assembly starts flopping around then this is your issue

Tried that already. There's a small amount of "forced shake", but definitely no floppage.

a quarter mile at a time
does it dip on startup??? It shouldn't autolevel unless you're on a pretty steep incline. Definitely not at 5mph

Well to be specific (on what I thought normal operation is), I get in the car, turn on the car, turn on the headlights for the first time (I do it manually, I don't use auto mode), and the headlights (only the driver moves) won't autolevel until I begin driving and pass 5mph or so for the first time. It won't do it again (or at least a full down and back up) until I restart the car.

** I just realized something. Is the car NOT supposed to move the headlights up and down under normal startup if there are no car height changes? I thought a full up and down on startup was normal, following examples of similar cars - 530i, IS250, S4, and various other cars we've owned. If so, then does my driver side think it's upside down or something and going to an extreme go correct it, failing and returning?

Your car should dip it's headlights up and down once on startup, regardless of if your headlights are on or not. After that, they should only move under pretty significant loads of your sway bars.
