Brake caliper minimum clearance

The winter rims for my 2005 C55 clear the side of the front caliper housing by about 2mm or 1/16th of an inch. The person i bought the car from has used them like this for the last winter and feels this is OK.

What do you guys think? It sure looks very tight to me and makes me nervous that i may need to drive on them next winter. These wheels are 225/45-18 with ET35 and using spacers already.

a quarter mile at a time
I'd say it is fine. I know several people that have so little clearance over thier calipers it dosen't look like a business card will fit between the spoke and caliper.

Thank you for the replies - this will save me buying wider spacers, or even new wheels. More to spend on other toys :-)
