if you are talking about a white C32 that has the 6-piston up front he is also using the C55 18".

The big brake set-up (ie: from an SLK or C63) on a C55 is an extremely tight fit with the OEM dual spoke factory wheel. 18s are absolutely necessary to clear the setups, the fronts will literally come within 3mm of the inside of the rim. I ended up changing to a different AMG OEM 18" rim to give more clearance.

That was the one I was thinking about.

Alright, as long as they'll fit. I'm keeping my C63 wheels on, but if my stockers won't fit then any more then there's no sense in keeping them around. But since they will that problem is solved.

Wanted to chime-in here as I am about to "upgrade" (well, sort-of) my rear brake set-up this weekend. Cory (Kleeman rep here) offered up a set of brand new AMG rotors that Kleeman had sent to Brembo to be cross-drilled for $100 plus shipping (on the forum here). Given that I am on a budget, as others here are, I decided that this would be the perfect chance to upgrade the aesthetics of my brakes, without actually paying out the for one of the big brake kits. Needless to say, here is what I have purchased for the upgrade:

Set (2) of AMG C55 rear rotors that have been cross-drilled by Brembo ($135)
Set (2 pairs) of Akebono rear brake pads ($40)
One Dupli-Color caliper paint kit (Silver) ($25)

I should be posting some pictures when I am done. While I know I am not upgrading the performance of the rear brakes with this upgrade, I am excited to improve the IMO, pretty crappy looking (why did MB scrimp here?), rear brake set-up on the C55, as I am already very content with the OEM brakes' performance.

All-in-all, I think what I am doing is very affordable solution to upgrading the looks of the rear brakes. From what I can tell, I did get a very good deal on the rotors (shout out to Cory @ Kleeman), but I think you can find cross-drilled rotors that fit the rear of the C55 for about $130 - $200 a set.

+1 on the disappointment of AMG's rear brake set up.. Not sure but i believe Viper98912 did a rear upgrade on the calipers.. Might want to search, i don't think it was that expensive either..

No, the CLK 4 pot is not the same as the S/SL/CLS/E 4 pot.

Yes, I did do special upgrade, a little hard to find parts, but everything worked wonderfully with a little ingenuity....

My assumption is that AMG went with the setup because it was a very well used setup in previous MB cars. I guess they didn't want to put on the 6/4 brakes, whether it was because of the pricepoint of the car (relative to other more expensive options like the CLK) or because they were trying to keep cost down. I personally think the 6/4 should've come on it, along with Comand and BiX as standard instead of options.....
