Car and Driver has a bias in favor of the latest offerings in general. If you read thier comparos the preproduction model usually wins the day.

I can see why none of those cars got a 10 on ride because they are supposed to be sporty.

I cannot fathom how the Audi tranny bested the BMW tranny. Practically everyone who writes about cars is in agreement that BMW makes the best RWD manual trannies. Either this new S4 is a quantum leap in this area or Audi slipped C and D a ringer.

03' C32, 98' Civic EX
Speaking of manual trannies, just a quick question to enlighten me. I remember reading (or heard) from some source that the M3 uses Getrag tranny, the same that went into GT-R 34. So, does the regular 3xx series BMWs use the same thing?

yeah, 5sp auto in the 3 are from GM. The manual is still from getrag i think.

another thing is that why don't or won't the GM put the same 5sp into the Corvette. The damn auto Vette only has 4sp auto.

btw....interesting all finished 13.6 on quarter mile, albeit diff trap speeds, but ... identical 1/4 mile times

yeah, that's what i was saying. M3's quicker off the line, S4 and the C32 is slower off the line, but gain more ground back because of more torque available.
