C55 wannabe
I'm looking at an 05 C55 with 70k miles. I like the car, but I am a MB newb and have some questions:
1. Car appears very clean and dealer is asking 22k US. That reasonable? What is a good lowball starting offer?
2. When starting up, engine makes an initial high pitch whine that goes away. Normal?
3. What can I expect for yearly maintenance costs for the remained of this cars life?
4. Any good sites you can suggest I read to get myself informed on this car?
5. Anything I should pay particular attention to when examining it?
One thing I noticed was that when coming to a stop as it slowed I felt some vibration from the front. Could have been noisy tire/road vibration coming through the suspension.
Other than that seems like a nice car, but I don't want it if it's a money pit.
Thanks

2. Yea, that's normal when the engine is cold. It's called the secondary air pump and helps warm up the cats. Terrible noise though, they should've designed it better when you're trying to show off your AMG and it sounds like that upon startup.
3. Oil changes, rear tires (although not was bad as C63) and the occasional broken item. This is the AMG that is most reliable and MOST of the time shouldn't break your pocketbook.
4. Yea, this one.
5. Carfax, accidents, the usual.
6. Might just need new brakes.
7. This is the most reliable of all the AMG's, and for the most part isn't a money pit. But it can be if you like modding because mods aren't cheap!
