Resealing the pass side valve cover recirc cover (gasket maker?)

I think many of us have had this problem:
If you take off the airbox, on the passenger side cam cover there's an additional recirc cover held in by two bolts that loves to leak oil. I've got dry oily grime around most of my engine seals, but this is the only one that consistently leaves fresh pools of oil.

I've seen/heard that this little cover is only sealed with a sealing caulk instead of an actual gasket.

Has anyone popped this cover off, scraped off the old stuff, and resealed it with some liquid gasket maker? I haven't found any specific specs or brands to use, so I picked up some Permatex Ultra Black at the local auto parts store. Has anyone used this or done this job that could give out some tips or recommendations?

Thanks,

I used a similar gasket maker on an engine I rebuilt ages ago that I couldn't find gaskets for and it worked fine. I roughened up the sealing surfaces a bit with coarse sandpaper to give the gasket maker a better surface to bite into and then made sure that the surfaces were thoroughly degreased.

I did this a while back.Just used a small wire brush to clean it up. Then ran a 1/8 inch bead around the channel and reinstalled. Worked perfect. needs to be done about every two years or so.
