Sold the AMG - new owner = Mikev7

Hey guys, I haven't been on here very much as of late and wanted to give you all an update. It was a very tough decision, but I ended up trading in the AMG for a BMW....and it's not even an M! I now have an 8 month old daughter and found myself needing a bigger "family" car. My trunk was full of speakers and the final straw (for the wife mainly) was not being able to fit a stroller in the trunk. The AMG was "too loud", "too rough of a ride", "too sporty", blah, blah, blah.... So I ended up with a 535i Sport. What the wife doesn't know is that the twin turbo 6 has a lot of potential and in time, will be as fast/powerful (or faster) than the ole C32. However, I can't help but feel like a traitor....
I now pass the baton to the new proud owner, Mikev7. I've told him how great this place, and all of you are, and I'm sure he will feel right at home. I suppose I need to give him my signature block now...

Good thing the kids are all grown up. So I can still have my toys
At least you didn't have to rock a minivan

Geeze, you could have just found a stock C55, an E550 or something along those lines.

Did you go for a new styled 2011 or one of the Bangle Butt cars?

After much deliberation, we ended up with a low mileage bangle butt. Couldn't justify the extra pennies on a new model....plus the ridiculous depreciation of the AMG made me think long and hard about a brand new car. In the end I'd rather put the extra pennies saved into diapers.......or a good cat back exhaust, BOV, downpipe, bigger single turbo, JB4 tune and enjoy 450+ ponies to the rear tires.

That is also why I didn't go for a C55 (not any bigger than the 32 really) or the E550 (boring - I can't own a benz that's not an AMG). I always have to have a project to mod, be it a computer, bike, ATV, jetski, sled (when I was up north) or my car... My wife doesn't know the hidden potential of the E60...she sees a (relatively) big four door sedan that rides smooth as silk and drives on rails. As long as I wait for the exhaust and intake, she won't even realize there's a sleeping giant under the hood. Best of both worlds; larger family sedan with more performance potential than the 32. Whats not to love.

Truth be told, I wanted a CLS55/63 but the good news is that my wife thinks the 535 is a "sacrifice"....so my next ride can be something along the lines of an SL or CL/CLK AMG for some coupe fun.

Hey whats up people. I'm the new owner of the car. I was originally looking for a lexus IS350 but I couldn't find one. I saw the Benz on a lot and it caught my eye. I had just enough down payment for the Lex to pay the Benz off cash so instead of taking a note, I went ahead and got the Benz. I'm having a few issues with a intake and exhaust leak so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I hear a high pitched whistle coming from the engine under low boost. Where could this be coming from? I think the exhaust leak is coming from the collecters. Simple fix maybe?

Sounds like you were the winner, not your wife

Grats on a fun car. Got mine a month ago, all stock, and I'm blown away by it's performance. I can't even imagine how yours perform

To the OP: Isn't the 535i only marginally larger? Shouldn't you get a minivan or something, haha

Correct. Its like the difference between the C class (3 series sedan) and E class (5 series). Slightly larger, newer, factory warranty, more bells and whistles, etc', etc'.... That reminds me, I forgot how much I loved having heads up display! Had a Corvette a few years back and was bummed to lose that feature. Every car should have HUD standard.

Minivans and wagons are out of the equation.lol
