Question Command Screen - Can it be customized on start up?

Hello,

I have an '06 C55 with a Command screen (navigation). Does anyone know if the command screen can be customized such that the screen will open (default) to the map instead of the blue audio screen on startup?

My Lexus will display the map on start up. I'd like for my C55 to default to the map image if that is possible?

Does anyone know if this can be changed (either by me or the dealer)?

Thanks,

On mine I think it comes up on the last thing you were at. If you leave the map on when you turn off the car, the nav input screen will come up (the first time in the drive cycle you press map it defaults to the nav first). I don't think there's a way around it

Yeah it's a shame it can't default to the map since it seems that is what most people use.

Viper, you are right. What I should have said is I would like it to default to the map itself. So if you are last in the map mode when you shut down you get the nav input screen. My Lexus will revert to the map screen no matter what you adjust on the screen (climate, music, etc...) within about 10 seconds after touching the screen (and on start up too). I wish it could be programmed to do that. I'll ask my dealer as I'm going there for a brief visit Monday. I doubt they'll even know as the SA's just don't seem to know anything that goes beyond the simple questions they are accustomed to getting.

Overdrive,

Thanks. Anxious to hear more once you've had a chance to look into it.

Ok i looked at it, and found where the image is stored...... Its in a dll/system file. I used the service disk to find it. Im not sure how to change it (I'm not a software engineer, Only hardware ) but it seems like if theres a way to import the same size image into it, and recompile it somehow... I think it would work.... again im guessing here....

How do you get the software image out of it?

According to the dealer, the Command screen is not customizable. It will default to the last image on the screen. In the case of the map, it will revert to the Nav input screen (not the map) as Viper98912 correctly pointed out. The SA said he had previously looked into this for another customer and confirmed with MB that this is the case.

I wasn't surprised at the answer.
