Need a new rear windshield on my C32

I am really mad right now. Came back from work today and left my car in the driveway. I get ready to go out for the night and as soon as I start my car, my rear windshield falls apart in the back seat. There were two huge holes in it what looked like as if someone either hit it with a baseball bat or a crowbar on both sides. The whole thing eventually collapsed in my back seat. Some mother****er drove up to my car, hit the rear windshield a few times, and just drove off. I called the police and reported the incident. On my street there was also a knocked over mailbox as well a car antenna in the middle of the street. I am thinking some lifeless piece of s*** and his/her friends was killing time messing with other people's property for the night. Now my question is: My insurance deductible is $500. Should I just go ahead and pay it and get my stuff fixed or should I just try to buy the rear windshield myself from somewhere cheaper and get someone to install it? On parts.com its about $328 plus shipping plus the price for install, so comes about the same as the deductible. If you know where to get it for cheaper please let me know.

Alex

Check with your insurance to see if they have anything that will cover vandalism or non-accident related issues. You might not have to pay anything. If not, I would go with parts.com.

That's horrible. I'm sorry to hear that

I would also go with parts.com or something similar. I had someone throw a rock into the window of my old vehicle. Ended up costing me $200 bucks total. Though I expect the back window will cost a bit more due to the heating wires.

Well, I made the claim with my insurance but I also called a local auto glass shop and they said they would look into getting me a used windshield. However, our rear windshields on the c32s are blue tinted, so I doubt they will be able to find a match since the regular c classes have clear windows and those are common. I think that I am looking at a $500 deductible at the moment for a brand new OEM rear windshield from MB. I am very mad that I have to pay that money for something I did not do. If I go with parts.com, I will spend more than $500 by doing it on my own since the rear windshield is $377.59 with shipping.
