why does rain and rwd not match?

Well, today i was in class when one of my good friends came in his brand new heavily modified mustang gt. I say nice car and i asked if he wanted to race but he said it was raining so he didnt want to race. i understand drifting but whats so bad about speeding in the rain with a rwd car??

easier to fishtail...lose the rear end...but skilled drivers can get around it...that is one of the reasons why on dry, the m3 will do better than s4, and in wet, the s4 will chew up the m3.

guess ur friend is uncomfortable with driving in the rain with this much power to the rear wheels

I used to have a saleen, mustangs are also notorious for poor weight distribution. They're very heavy in the front vs. the rear and have a solid rear axle as opposed to an independent rear suspension. All of these basically go back to what steve was saying. The power will very easily overwhelm the traction the rear gets in the rain, and once you lose the tire's contact patch, it's very difficult to control the car.

was heading east over on the freeway to walnut creek one weekend last month, pouring like crazy in california if u can believe it...anyway...it was sunday afternoon...not a whole lot of cars for good reason... anyway, this civic about 1/2 mile ahead all of the sudden spun...360...from the right lane all the way across 4 lanes and into the shoulder...facing the shoulder...so more like 450.... that lucky-sob is soooo damn lucky he didn't go further. crazy. nobody near him too...at 5 pm.... u don't have to have high hp and rwd to lose it in the rain...lousy worn out tires or even standing water can do it...

Yeah, except Civic's are Front Wheel Drive. But true, standing water is another fun variable to account for when driving.
