Now you need to de-chrome the rest of the car, and paint the Headlight brightwork also.

i think i'm just gonna buy a nice flat badge and call it a day. maybe get a front lip in the future. i'm looking for this specific flat badge that i saw on ebay a while back. it was really nice. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BENZ-...Q5fAccessories <---like this but the middle was black too.

I have the same badge and I did the same as you, sanded down, primered, painted with 3-4 coats of flat black and then applied 3 coats of clear coat.

Rock chips haven't done anything yet to the grill, they have however hosed the rest of my hood up.

you can always just put a clear bra on it after its been painted. only problem is finding a place that does clear bra on the grill.

I have a place, but it doesn't matter. I realized that driving at 70mph on the road and a rock gets a bad hop and goes onto your grill is going to leave damage no matter what.

Looks great, its exactly what I want to do with mine. I'm also considering black vinyling the weird metallic window trim.

There's no getting around rocks unfortunately, I've sanded and repainted twice already.

true.. not much you can do at the end of the day it seems. it'll definitely hold up longer, though.
