Thai Pad Prik,

These "people" that you speak of that consider the quality of a 3 series superior over the M-B, how often do you see them, and do they regularly appear while taking your medication?

Sincerely,

Marko

BTW, the BMW M3 with SMGII can EASILY duplicate runs over and over again, as well as any automatic-equipped C32.

In fact, with Car & Driver review of SMG M3:

0-60 4.8 sec
0-100 11.6 sec
0-150 27.8 sec

1/4 mile 13.4 sec @ 107 mph
Top speed (governor limited) 155 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph 162 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad 0.89 g

And the good part is that the SMG can duplicate this result over and over again. All you need is a decent driver who knows how to use the SMG (which easy). And this can be done on any street USA.

Benzpower did a really nice job to get 13.6 sec in the 1/4 mile. That is pretty damn impressive!
FYI,
I'm confident to beat a M3 SMG on the dragstrip..and from a roll, I lined up with my friend's SMG coupe 3 times from 25-100mph..I always beat him by 1 car and from 80-140 we were neck to neck. My friend's c32 which beats me everytime from a roll so there's no way that a E46 M3 is faster than a C32.

Jesus....

Thai- Well there are these ones things and they are called...."modifications" and you can do them to a car to make it faster, handle better, sound better etc. Jeez dude how did you think he made his car keep up with an M3 and beat it. I well modified S4 is something to look out for! The turbo's are easily swapped out and the engine is easy chipped for massive gains in tourqe and horsepower. An S4 with exhaust, chip, and turbo's can easily reach upper 300 hp range!

Hope this helps!

Aren't we talking about stock vs. stock?? Yeah, anyone can modify anything. I bet you i can buy a Dodge Neon SRT and boost it's turbo to kill the C32 too!

You're too kind...hope this helps you.

Ok....

Now that I think of it, the S4 may surprise you a little in it's stock form. The car ran 0-60 in 5.4 in a C&D test, and we all know better numbers are capable with some practice and I beleive it will run the 1/4 mile in mid 13's. So considering those numbers and the fact that when whomever it was posted their 1/4 times at mid 13's people said that was pretty impressive.

Considering those impressive numbers and a price tag of 10K less than a C32, I think it's a hell of a car!

Thanks.

If you don't care that much about styling and reliability, it is indeed a hell of a car.

I just think it looks boring as hell.

Yeah.....

But the great thing about styling is it is all opinions, I personally think that the S4 looks good! The reliability issue is a different story however. I haven't heard of people having huge problems with their S4 unless they have swapped the turbo's, and this is where it gets bad!!

Thanks for the reply.

End of the video, real surprise is the S4 wins the loop over the M3 by nearly a second, on a dry road. A wet road would be even more dramatic. Looks like Audi has done their homework with the S4. The S4 is slower in a straight line, but able to beat an M3 on the track

just wait till someone does a 6000 rpm launch in a new s4.
it will be insane.

i know a guy that launched his s4 that he has right now so hard by revving it to 6000 rpm that he was able to peel out all 4 of his front tires for a 1.5 60ft time and a 1/4 pass of 12.6. CRAZY(he's not stock)
but guaranteed with the right launch this car is a definate possible C32 killer in a drag race.

Well today, I was off of work, and me and a few friends decided to head upstate to the nearest drag strip. I think i did great for my first time. The first try 0-60 i did was 5.6, this happened cause my tired spun for awhile. Then my second try 0-60 i did 5.3.
My first try 1/4 mile was 13.8, then my second try was 13.49 which i find good. While i was there, i blew a supercharged mustang, a turbo charged e36 m3, a e46 m3, my friends turbo mx6, my friends twin turbo supra, and i also beat carrera. The only race i lost to was my cousins sl 55 amg. C32 all the way....
VEry nice, congratulation on the kills, glad to see you take it to the track too

13.49 is nice, you'll feel a nice difference after the upgrades!

Smile Wow.....

I remember seeing that video somewhere, and I just cannot believe the fact that the M3 wins the straight line drag and as Jeremy Clarkson said, despite Audi having more cylinders and cc. I know the S4 is heaps heavier and being AWD, you lose a lot of power.

I betcha the next M3 will be insane because it will definitely be a V8....

But then again, MB might do a C55 AMG
