I am being truthful when I say I am not bitter, but simply stating what I know to be true. Regardless of whether or not such prices are deemed too high by the peanut gallery, they are what they are. I am happy to see the C55 with relatively stable prices, of course. This is a high quality car, produced in low numbers, with a very unique niche buyer. As C-Class AMG owners (both C32 and C55), we are fortunate in the sense that the value of our vehicles follow a calculable depreciation. In 5 years, C63s will be selling for close to what C55s are presently, and C55s will be selling for close to what C32s are presently.

 

I think this is what you meant to say.

 

Most of us are fortunate as many of us purchased our vehicles used after the depreciation bubble burst. My hats off to those who bought new.

We're talking about a garage queen with about 12,000 miles, not the car above ^^ you refer to??? Factor in Fuel mileage + Premium Fuel reqt , age of vehicle, I assume its an 05 and is 6 model years old and I have to agree with DB that the $15 K car with 60,000 miles IS the better deal...............Fact is, AMG's, like many M cars, do NOT hold up well in the market and the pyramid of buyers who even know what an AMG is even worse!!! So you have few cars and even fewer buyers at the price the "garage queen C55 " is going for?? Simply economics says that the cars will be driven down in price......

 

That Honda Civic also gets 40 MPG and in its class, has been the #1 selling vehicle for the past 20 years...its a no brainer on that one............

 

Short and sweet....I'd by the $15K C55 (as long as I could follow up on the maintenance history)....

 

MB maintenance HX can be spotty since many of us are DIYers or take it to private/independent shops like Speedriven to get our work done.

 

Trust, I understand. But there are a good handful of folks that are still taking them to the dealers to have that great "Carfax" mx history for when they plan on selling them

 

$29,805. Does not take into account iPod, Brakes, Mirrors, Power Folding Mirrors, Paddles or voice control. Whether those mods are valuable depends on the buyer, even as 100% OEM.

I'm not so sure that Dingleberry is worth the time - but given that he's at peace with himself to take such a name and really hasn't contributed much intelligence... Allow me to explain away his garbage. KBB provides an industry standard to value a car - you can challenge the figure, claim bunk, etc., etc. It is, however, what it is.

Reference post #34: The Honda example used suggested retail, therefore I used suggested retail. The OP is most likely looking at cars sold at retail. You pick the value that fits your purchase. I simply maintained an apples to apples pick.

Dingleberry post #41 & 42: I didn't tack on 'extra' options. If KBB is too sophisticated for you I could understand your post. However, I merely checked the selections that equalled what is installed on my car. All my mods or additions are OEM and sourced either from MBUSA, MBDE or AMG directly. This is not 'hiking' the price - it's describing the car accurately, given the choices provided by KBB to accurately value the car. It's not like they provided white space to list what you want and put in your own values. How are you claiming that my car doesn't have NAVI for example? A C55 without a rear spoiler? What rock are you under? I know your primo ride has an automated wing - you should add '911' and call it a Chrysler 911.

The 2005 C55's did not have MP3 single disc NAV head units. That became available on the 2006 models with MCSII NAV head units. My car did not originally come with NAV, however, when I retrofitted the OEM system I sourced the later version to gain single disc MP3. The glove box changer was upgraded with firmware. LOL.

Does integrated telephone make you laugh too?

Post 43: I thought 'DVD system' referred to the NAV system as opposed to the multi-CD trunk mounted system that was used in some 2005 MB models. Either way it's a whopping $335 difference - so don't be too worried. I think the full 030 brakes will compensate.

Furthermore, don't even begin to challenge the condition of my car. The KBB excellent selection allows for wear and tear that is not present on my car. Dream on pal - the car is pristine.

I went on to realistically explain the other mods (only offered on EU cars) couldn't be valued, and openly questioned their worth except for the niche buyer.

As for what the cars are worth - who knows given the economic conditions that are struggling to go away. I have no interest or need to part with my C55, so I don't really care in the end, other than when a poser talks garbage. Any dealer that had my car on their lot would price it at $29k minimum guaranteed.

To further help Dingleberry...

1. Your car is not a Chrysler C32. It's a Chrysler Crossfire. Why not post your value for reference. Maybe yours is really special - like the "Limited" model. And I thought only Buick had the rights to that model name.

2. Stop being a poser and join http://www.crossfireforum.org/forum/ where you can really contribute and help your fellow enthusiasts rather than pretend on this site. You can describe your upcoming mod: removing the engine plate and attaching it over the Chrysler Wings on the hood. Don't forget to change your listing to say Chrysler AMG.

I will absolutely give credit to kjb55 here for taking the time to write a thoughtful and thorough response, regardless of his position.
