WTB C55

Something else that seems like is never mentioned is that the dealer uses a suction tube from the top to change the oil which leaves a couple quarts in there while most do-it-yourselfers pull both oil plugs and do a complete oil change. Not like it matters, never heard of these engine spinning a bearing or burning oil.

That is a great find smoothguy. I'm surprised I didn't find this one when I was looking on eBay last night. It isn't too far from me either. I'm definitely going to try and check this one out. Any reason this guy is selling it for that low of a price or do you this he's just trying to get rid of it? Thanks alot smoothguy!
If it checks out then I think its worth buying. Personally I love the color and the car appears to have most of the options you would want in a C55.
It amazes me that the car was sent to auction back in 2007 - that the dealer did not have a better option than offloading it wholesale. I would think if it were pristine at the time, the dealer would have tried to sell off their lot for a better price.
If you are not too far away, I would say it is clearly with the drive to see it in person. Keep us posted on how it goes.

It looks like a nice car to me, but you will clearly need to see it up close for a good inspection. Like others have said, if it looks good to you, I would have it inspected by a local MB dealer and get a list of anything they think needs to be done to the car. I think the price is reasonable for an '05 with nearly 70,000 miles - not a screaming bargain (which might give me pause) and not way overpriced.

+1, price seems very fair and DB hasn't rung in with a "rip-off"
I agree, drive it, take it out on highway, mash the gas, listen to the engine, try the seat heaters, check the tires etc etc.......YOU know what you need to do...

I just love the color. I found a black one on auto trader which had good mileage (~61000) for 17,000 but he said there was an SRS light problem that the dealer said would cost $1000 to fix. I wouldn't mind this car the only thing is my brother has a black e class and even though it looks good when its clean I would just rather not deal with that color (no offense to anyone that has a black car).

Hey this is the car I just bought! It's looks way better in person and is in very good shape (both interior and exterior). Seller was a nice guy and he agreed to go down to 15.5K. It actually just had 60,373 miles on it and had all the options I wanted (bi-xenons, nav etc).
Apart from the SRS sensor, the only other issue that was found when we had it inspected in a nearby dealership were some gasket leaks. The shop I brought it to have maintenace done couldn't believe that I just got it for only 15.5K given the mileage and overall condition of the car.
Goodluck on your search!

You may want to take a look at this.
Not your color of choice and no nav but it only has 45K on the clock for only 19.8K (which I'm sure you can still negotiate down a bit more).

I scheduled to go down to Gary on Sunday, however, plans got in the way and I never made it so I had to let him know ahead of time. The seller actually e-mailed me on Saturday morning asking if we were still a "go" to check the car out Sunday which was pretty nice. I have a full work week as of now and really don't have time to make it down this week. I'm going to try and keep in some kind of contact with the seller in the meantime and see if I can maybe purchase at a later date if its still available. I hate it when things don't work out the way you wanted them too

I love the fact that these cars last forever. You should hold off for the exact color / options you want and worry less about miles. It gets quite expensive to try swapping out features.

Hell everything for sale. Mine is a 2005 with 36k miles and a warranty that is valid until 06/13. Mine is stock with the exception of wheels and tint. Mine does not have nav but as you've read here Garmin is probably better if that's a requirement. All services have been done a either Fletcher Jones MB, Calabasas MB or South Bay MB. I'm at $25k
