Do AMGs need frequent services?

I am in the market for a C55/E55 AMG. It was pretty hard to find C55s in my area. I came across a couple dealers that have them. While I was going over a Carfax report on them, I noticed they have a very frequent service records though they don't seem to have major issues. For example, one C55 I've looked at had services done like 7 times within 2 year period. I have no idea what kinds services were done since they do not specify it on the record. This 2006 C55 has 83k miles on the clock.

To all C class AMG owners, should I take this as something positive or negative? or is it something that's ordinary for most AMGs? I doubt the dealer would tell me details about them. I plan on checking out this car in person in a few days. Anyway, I'd really appreciate your opinions.

That factory service on a C55 is every 10k or once a year which ever is sooner. So a car with 83K should have been serviced at least eight times. What I would be concerned of you there are no serivce records prior to 2009 with 30K on the clock. I service the fluids twice as often as recommended by the factory on every car I've ever owned.

So that "service" could be something as little as fluids or engine oil or things like that? I feel the owner was a type of person like you who takes a good care of his vehicle, but the only thing that bugs me is that they don't specify which type of services they were.

It actually has 2 maintenance and service records by the time it had about 20k miles. Those records are actually a part of the entire Carfax report.

Here it is

07/16/2007 Mercedes Of Encino
Encino, CA

www.mbencino.com Maintenance inspection completed

Two tires mounted and balanced

06/13/2008 19,984 Mercedes-Benz of Escondido

Would you say now that the vehicle has been serviced as recommended and supposedly in good shape according to the record?

Complete service records printed out by MBZ of Escondido can be obtained if they want to get them for you. (For privacy purposes they will not give you the name(s) of the previous owners.) Then you can find out what was done and if anything unsual happened. Maintenance is higher pn AMG cars due to higher end oil capacity, brake and tire wear.

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
You consider a service/maintenance every 9k miles to be "frequent"?

I didn't really pay attention to the mileage at first instead I mostly looked at the period. 7 services in 2 years seemed frequent to me, but every 9k is obviously not unusual.

I would rather buy an AMG that had a long list of visits to the MB dealer than an AMG that had few/zero visits to the dealer while under warranty.

I'm kinda confused. Anyone who has looked into getting any Benz should have discovered that 6 out of 10 are going to have repeated electrical problems. Then there are other common issues like malfuctioning suspension and brakes. Shifter malfunctions. Many other.

2006 C55 AMG
I service the car slightly early every 8k - 8.5K, also depending on how you drive the car.

These engines are bullet proof anyway.

10K or 1 year which ever comes first is what MB recommend.

I had a 2005 E46 M3 CAB and that was every 15K.

I don't feel a compelling need to go to a MB dealer unless its a CEL we can't figure out or something very unusual. Funny thing is, I get all of my maintenance at a MB forum sponsors shop and these guys have combined about 40 years experience and use all of the MB diagnostic tools at about 30-40 % less in cost, including parts.

When I bought all my cars, I was told by the dealers that unless something breaks or a CEL shows up, don't change the oil until the car tells you and abide by A and B services. The cars made in the past 8-10 years all do that and are really very simple to understand. I don't buy the old adage of changing oil every three thousand miles because Valvoline tells me to. I would tend to believe that the AMG engineers know a lil more than I do about their cars. I also tend to stick with "genuine" MB parts for fluids.
